I run windows on my TFT monitors top res: 1280*1024 lovely and big...

Well CS (normal) i play on 1280*1024 cuz it can handle it.

Just because i though it would be a slow down, i automatically put CSS at 1024*768.

Tried it at 1280*1024 and i can get avr. 40fps out of it with 2x AA and all on max. But its a bit too laggy.

SOOOOO...............

I put on 124*768 and 6x AA (most ppl dont bother trying this) and i cant tell diff between that and 1280*1024 AND its lovely and smooth :)

BIG TIP: For ATI card users, i believe the cards rendering is in sections, eg. Texture, particle, AA, AF, models etc...

So having all on max on one and all on low on other wont make any diff compared to max n max when FPS is concerned.

(infact i get stupid fps when its all maxed compared to lower settings!)

(rig: 3ghz 1gig ram 9800pro)

So i suggest playing with your graphics a STUPID amount until you're happy with fps and quality!

I get 50lowest and 90 highest on CSS with max settings 6x AA and 8x AF and 1024*768

Its excellent :D

1280x1024 is a stretch res.

wa?

U mean like 1280*968 those res'?

Cuz it says 1280*1024 (LCD) in CSS.

But my screen is a normal 4:3 monitor.

1024x768 is 4:3.

btw i have a 9600XT and i get about 55 fps with 4xAA, all @ high, 1024x768. BUT, sometimes (especially on dust and dust2) fps goes down to 1 or 2 when i'm looking towards a certain direction. this only happens when i use high quality textures. it doesn't make any sense, but it still is the same after installing a fresh winxp and new catalyst drivers. this doesn't happen when i use medium quality textures, but then the graphics are not as good.

anybody else familiar with my problem?

Yeah the boost between max & low on my computer is like ~10% fps-wise. It's strange as heck :)

Yep i get exactly the same thing myself, only on dust as well, all other maps are absolutely fine exept that one. For me it happens at bombsite A, i'm fine if i look from that site towards the outside of the map, but if i turn around and face towards the centre of the map i get a slideshow. Its only a small area that does it, right where the crates & baskets are.

Thats good to know that someone else is getting this problem as well, i asked many people on that map if they had anything similar but no-one did.

Look at the chickenwire in dust and move away from it
