Resident Evil 5 captivate 08 trailer NEW!

Looks like they're keeping the gameplay identical to RE4, which is a very, very good thing. They'd better go even more hardcore than before with the exploding brain bits from the headshots.

Also with this and Farcry 2 it really seems to be the year for Africa. Episode 3 is gonna shock all of us and go the same route.
 
That looks insane. My only qualm is that it seems to be based mostly during the day.

Well go play the old ones whilst the rest of us enjoy the marvels of THREE DIMENSIONS.
 
i really hope they can get it out sooner than 2009 . . .

Erm what? There were old-style ones that were fully 3D too you newb. Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil Outbreak, Resident Evil Outbreak 2..
 
I'm sorry, I really can't take you seriously now. You actually want to play Outbreak and Veronica?
 
I liked playing outbreak because I used to turn on friendly fire and shoot my teamates, and leave them to be killed off by pack of zombies. :bounce:
 
I liked playing Outbreak because I knew that when I stopped I'd feel fleeting joy.
 
That was awesome! So glad that they've decided to stick to the same style as RE4, as much as I love the old games and their style .. it would just feel dated today.

I just can't wait, this for me is bigger than GTA IV :P

looks sweet. Basically a reskin of re 4 but that isn't nescesarily a bad thing when it looks so good :D
 
Wait a second, are you referring to the Dreamcast iteration? Because I never owned one due to my aforementioned brain.

I played the PS2 one, which was very disappointing to me.
 
The PS2 version was an enhanced verson of the game, if you found Code Veronica X dissappointing, then I'm guessing you didn't like any of the old-school RE games..
 
I loved the first, and my love for the series was slowly decreasing over time and once Veronica was released I believed the series had stagnated, and I really became tired of moving like a tank. Luckily 4 came out and blew my mind, and hopefully 5 will keep it that way.

Game looks awesome, I'll definitely be picking this one up.

I'm sort of with Garg here though. Their solution to the plodding design of the original games was to scrap the thing completely and make a game that really isn't Resident Evil, and I think that's a shame to be honest. I'd like to see them go back, fix the problems and deliver an RE game that is true to the originals. Resident Evil 4 was not a Resident Evil game.
 
The new iteration of the RE series is basically evolved from Dino Crisis 2. There's virtually nothing left from the original horror + survival elements from the first three. I liked both so I wouldn't mind seeing a game that followed more of the experience from the first three and veronica rather than the current blast-everything-that-moves style of gameplay.

True but it was still kick ass. Plot sucked a big one though even by resi standards
 
I didn't say RE4 wasn't an excellent game - the gameplay is actually very good and it's a little more sophisticated than shoot everything that moves too. It just isn't an RE game. There was no point calling it one.
 
There was also no point calling Outbreak and it's vile offspring, or that new Wii THING a Resident Evil game, so I think Capcom have long since stopped caring.
 
Erm, there was no point calling RESIDENT EVIL 4 for RESIDENT EVIL, because RE4 is about as much Survival Horror as the MGS games, not ONCE in RE4 did I ever find myself needing to conserve ammo or such.. Never found it the least scary either.
 
Yeah, they should ditch the name and just call these new iterations KICK-F***ING-ASS!! and KICK-F***ING-ASS AGAIN!!
 
Looks terrific!

The upped crowd levels will probably make the game much more intense than RE4. As for comments about being set during the day... we'll see how long that lasts. It didn't last in RE4.
 
Cormeh, they've SAID the whole game is designed around the sun to an extent, for example, if you're outside too long, you get like hallucinations etc fromt he heat iirc.

Great game regardlesss but it was too different and the plot was crap even by resi standards
 
That looks great.

I think the no. of zombies on screen will help with the tension. In RE4 you never really felt pinned down as there weren't enough bodies filling the screen - likely a combination of hardware limitations and the more free-from, open-planned approach to gameplay. RE5 looks to be filled to the brim. Now we get entire streets and buildings full of the bastards :)

Guys, this game is going to be kick-ass. Should be suitably unsettling too which is always nice to get out of a game. All too rare these days....
 
Dead Rising had a huge number of zombies on the screen, yet I didn't really find Dead Rising "tense" :p
 
Looks pretty good and unchanged. I hope they have improved close quarter combat a little, but judging from this it's pretty different from RE4.

Well, having the ability to literally "mow" down hordes of the undead takes the edge off. :p
