I finished Resident Evil (for the GameCube) twice this week. First time was with Jill, clocked at about 8 hours. The second time was with Chris, just six minutes over 5 hours. Had I clocked under 5 hours, I would have received the Samurai Edge (some überleet handgun). Both were on normal difficulty. My time suprised me, because I basically sprinted through the game with minimal stops (I saved sixteen times), and I could skip a few puzzles as I already knew how to solve them (such as the computer passwords in the lab). I guess I'll try again.

I must say that I liked playing as Chris. His story is more interesting because he meets up with Rebecca. Their interactions are more involved than Jill's and Barry's. Plus, I just love Rebecca :o. It was also easier because Chris can take quite a beating in combat, unlike Jill. Then again, inventory management was a bit problematic.

I also have Resident Evil Zero for the GameCube, which is also cool. And you get to play Rebecca (:o). The character designers at Capcom really succeeded with her.

Finally, does anyone else agree that both games are some of the most visually stunning games made to date? The lightning and "texture" effects are just amazing.

The Resident Evil remake is undoubtedly the best game in the series. And yes, it looks bloody amazing. I was really blown away with how they combined the pre-rendered backgrounds and the lighting so well. Though, I do wish they changed a bit more than they did. I would have liked more interaction between main characters (though I guess that would demand credible voice acting), or perhaps even have Chris and Jill's stories overlap, like in Resident Evil 2. For example, maybe if one character manages to get the shotgun from the mansion, the other character could not get it, like the machine gun in Resident Evil 2.

........ which brings us nicely to Resident Evil 4.

Damn that game looks amazing!

ok what I found was that for unlocking stuff, Jill is way easier to do it with.
I think Jill is way easier to unlock stuff because there are MANY MANY MANY shortcuts to her game. Like if you don't give Barry the gun, then he dies and you get his gun. <-- if you do that, you will get Barry's magnum which has only 6 shots, but kills ANYTHING in 1 hit. Also, you do not encounter the tyrant on the rooftop if Barry dies. only in the lab, where you can kill him in 1 hit. I find this the best way to unlock stuff and trying to get low times. I can get about 2:15 with Jill NO PROBLEM anytime.
p.s. Resident Evil ROCKS! :)

That's true, but I don't have the heart to get any characters killed. :(

haha its kinda funny tho... you see his family picture fall outa his pocket too and all... haha.... sorry i hate barry. But if you wanna unlock the goodshit, your gonna have to suck it upand let him die

i really hope that after resident evil4 they will go back to the zombie style i dont really like the farm boys and trolls so much.

im pretty sure the game will be good, but i liked the old version of RE4 better

I think it's good that RE4 is breaking the mold of the previous games, which were all more or less the same. Apparently there's less focus on the time consuming and nonsensical gem puzzles and whatnot.

I hope they fix the controls too. I never liked them very much.

I had strange codenames for enemies in RE. The guy in the crypt was Captain Blackbeard (with bad breath) and the woman in chains was The Hobo...

You know another remake I really liked? Metal Gear Solid on Gamecube. Playing through it again really showed how weak MGS2 was. And they totally overhauled the cutscenes which was also badass.

I haven't bought MGS:TS yet. I once played through the original.

the best part of the resident evil remake is the sharks!!!! That part freakin rocks :)

Barry is my hero. He seriously has some of the "best" lines ever.
"Wow, that almost made you a Jill sandwich!"

lol you can't be serious?
his lines are the biggest joke ever.

The Biohazard series rocks. Biohazard 4 looks pritty good but I don't like the fact they have taken away the zombies :( I mean it will be different, but it may get rid of the whole bloodlust and dark feel to Biohazard. I supose we will have to see. My favorite Biohazard to date would proberly be Biohazard 2. Man that game is just amazing. I love it so much. It's proberly in my top 10 games of all time.

One thing I really hated about the Biohazard remakes for Gamecube was the fact that the bosses sucked dick. They where not a challange at all. Infact, they where easy compared to the originals. Or maybe I have just got better at the games, who knows. Silent Hill 4 has been released which looks very intresting. I may have to get that game when it comes out.

Yeah, Barry really says all that stuff. And I said "best" because they're awesome in the sense that they're hilarious. Barry is really just a big dumb moron with a huge gun. Did I mention he has a beard? :D

Biohazard? Huh?

yeah thats what the Japanese version is called... i dunno about europe and stuff, that could be called biohazard aswell.

Capcom is japanese and the japanese call Resident Evil, Biohazard. If the creaters call it Biohazard Its proberly called Biohazard LOL!

Well, most people call it Resident Evil (the movies are called that too).

The reason Resident Evil is called Resident Evil and not Biohazard is because a POS band called 'Biohazard' copy righted the name in both USA and Europe.

No, Barry's greatest line ever has to be:

"Here Jill, you take this. It should come in handy for YOU, THE MASTER OF UNLOCKING"

You recieved the "Lock Pick"
