On this Thanksgiving day in the States, the team working on Resistance and Liberation have released a shiny new media update. In this update are screenshots of a WIP map titled St. Marie Dumont, made by their newest mapper, Toni Kreska.[br]

That's actually lookin pretty spiffy. Even though it's another WW2 mod, I'm quite buffed about it, since it takes a different kind of approach. I'm hoping to see more of it soon.

Wow amazing work!

Did they use DOD:S stuff because it looks a lot like it... maybe even better.

Looks awesome! I don't care how many WWII mods are in production I just want one released NOW (or soon I hope).

Full balistics, that's ****in' awesome :D
No HUD, no death messages, this sounds totally awesome. Some people don't like realism but I've never seen it in a WW2 game to this extent and I'm sure it's going to be sweet :D One thing I never liked was how in a gunfight you could safely stop shooting the other guy once you saw the kill indication. But with this you will never be SURE that the opponent is dead so you will keep suppressing his cover position, until you feel safe enough to advance :D

LOVE how you can hold the gun in different positions.

Per-poly hit detection? YES PLEASE.

Definitely looking forward to this one, this is the coolest upcoming mod for Source by far, in my opinion. I hope to god it doesn't fail.

Early pre-beta and it still looks better than DOD:S

How many WWII mod's are in development for Source? The seem to be extremely popular.

wow cool !! Another WWII game !!!! totally super awesome dudes!!!! I know a bunch of guys who are creaming their GI pants right now and will be able to experience something that has never been experienced before, something totally original, something that takes you where no game have ever taken you before, to fight unknown ennemies with unknown weapons, god knows whats gonna be in that mod, maybe nazis, maybe grenades and M1 Carbine, who knows, I guess we ll just have to wait for that one.........

a friend of mine just told me they might be using a colour brown ( H:37 L:32 S:80 B39) for some of the weapon textures as opose to the usual ( H:34 L:33 S:80 B:35).
I find the idea a little too adventurous and I m pretty sure my friend is lying, yet I cannot stop myself from hoping that yes, this team will revolutionise the world of multiplayer gaming.

3 I think. This one, HOB:Source and that really huge one (don't remember the name)

And omikron you're a retard and you don't even know.

It was common for pistols to be held with one hand. In fact, I've never seen a soldier hold a pistol with two hands in WW2 before.

You have friends?

Wow that does sound like a big change, I really think it will put people off though.

Omikron, cut back on the douchebaggery unless you wish your time remaining at this site to be short.

Lets not give Omikron what he wants and make this thread about him, it's about that mod, you know, the one that started it all.
They did a really good job so far! And since i'm not paying for DOD:s this will come in handy! and who knows, might be even better then DOD:s. The big numero uno question.. gameplay .. every mod faces it :p Although WW2 gameplay is well know to us all, so it can't go wrong there! :)
/me wanna see more of this mod!

Hopefully it is better than dod:S because dod:s is...err...there's something not very fun about dod:s.

R&L looks fantastic. Open fields are nice to gaze upon after trawling through tight linear corridors of dod:s, cs:s and every other hl2 mod i've played...except the source boat racing game.

WW2 has been done to death but there's an infinite amount of gamplay mechanics you can offer so lets hope R&L offers something very cool and different. Good luck guys.

YES. That's what we need. Open fields is mostly what WW2 was like, especially in Normandy which is what this mod focuses on. That's also what I don't like about DOD:S... When you have stuff like good camping spots and crap like that, it just feels like Counter-Strike :|

DOD:S needs some open fields. Let's use these machineguns and rifles how they were meant to be used.

But I don't care about DOD:S, I want this mod!!

It would be sweet if they pulled this off. My friend would die being able to play this baby "omg real! finally!"

Looks a bit CODish, but it's cool. I like COD
How so? If this looks CODish then any ww2 fps looks CODish. I don't think this game looks like any other fps set in ww2. Most importantly the amount of realism, and the most noticeable thing, lack of HUD and crosshair.

Looks good. 2 things that stand out to me that can be better are:

1. The thumb area of the hands could perhaps look more realistic
2. The trees are very pixelated looking from afar

Keep up the good work

They really can't do anything about the trees, since you can't have multisampling smooth the edges of alpha-blended textures. Supersampling can do it, which requires something like a 7800GTX to do well.

A depth of field blur could fix that, like the blur in GMod. Albeit a bit laggy...

That'd be funny to see, as if the character needed glasses or something. It'd add to the realism they're going for, in an annoying way :P

Looking good, but I'm not really excited or looking forward to playing it...maybe I'm just getting tired of being hyped for games all the time...

That reminds me of a long time ago before HL2 was released where we were talking about things that would happen when the player didn't move for a while. Someone said that Gordon should take off his glasses and wipe them, and while they are off everything would go blurry :p

Ok, I have no idea why I felt the need to post that. I guess it was just odd how you triggered the memory.

didnt swear, didnt insult anyones mother, why would I get kicked from this forum ? But fair enough I will stop feeling bitter about WWII mods and shut the hell up.....that was just my opinion, whats the point having a forum to comment on if people arent allowed to really dislike a certain mod (especially when its backed up) and all have to go "wow this is soo cool I cant wait it looks sweet" ???. ok enough now.

Looking good. I like that the maps are very open.
Like Jeremy said the trees could be better from far, they still look great tho.
Keep up the good work!

What are you 9? Seriously, Some people take their time and hard work (to release a free mod for you), In Mapping and skinning, Stop being so whiny about WWII Mod's, and If you don't like it. Guess what? You can make your own.

Expressing your opinion that you dislike a specific mod is absolutely fine, but acting like an arsehole in the process isn't.

it looks nice. i just dont like WW2 mods or games.
but good work anyway, keep it up and ill give it a try when its finished.

I'm pretty sure most soldiers held it with two hands. Its a freaking .45 ACP round firing out of the barrel. If soldiers hold 9mm's with two hands, why wouldn't they with a Colt? Its better for more precision and accuracy too.

Holding a pistol with two hands only really helps with controlling recoil. You can hold a gun as accurately with one hand as you can with two, before any shots are fired. If you want to fire in quick succession though... better to hold with two.

Besides, holding with one clearly looks cooler.
