These were just put up today. I think the environments look a tad bit bland but with a hint of City 17 atmosphere. The character models look great though with the lighting and high resolution textures. This is pretty much the only PS3 launch title that I want. Although, one game isn't going to sell me on the system yet. Enough of me yappin' though, here's the screens.

Why do all the humans seem WW2ish? (I'm only inferring from the pictures and no other sources)

Because it's a different take on what happened in Europe during the 40s and 50s. Instead of Hitler, they have aliens (Chimera).

^Maybe. We'll see once it's released in November alongside the PS3.

Looks interesting but it looks average. Dunno.

I'm actually kind of impressed with the art style. I like how it meshes WW2 era technology and style with science fiction ... and not come off like a terrible 50's movie. Also, it's made by Insomniac, so at the very least it'll be a helluva lot of fun.

The other launch title that interests me is Warhawk. Tons of different vehicles to pilot, both on the ground and in the air, as well as on foot combat. Should be an interesting war game, kind of like an even more arcadey version of Ace Combat with ground warfare thrown in.

Heavenly Sword looks good too, but it probably won't be a launch title. I'm still looking forward to see what the ICO team is working on and how the next Getaway and Killzone games will look. But as of now I don't have plans to buy the console until there's a price drop or a lot of games I have to have like MGS4, Assassins Creed, and GTA4 are released.

I cant wait until we are all like "see picture of first games for PS3/Xbox360..*
"ha..crappy graphix ftw."

The game is gonna suck. I remember at E3 when the game was presented at the Sony conference , all the sites reported that they were un impressed with the game and there was actually quiet in the crowd while the game ran.

Fanboys are hilarious aren't they?

You're pretty funny yourself. The game is in development by a very accomplished team that have consistently produced great shooters. In addition it has an interesting concept and the previews I've read were very favorable. In all likelihood this will be a very good game.

The textures seem pretty average for 'next gen' and the color seems toned down. But it looks like a pretty interesting concept for the game.

The monster designs are a tad generic and the title is awful.

That said, the guys at Insomniac know how to make games. It'll be good. Probably not $700 good however.

read somewhere today that Fall of Man will take up 22 gigs of disk space (blu-ray disk that is)

here it is

"While the music and vocals in "Resistance" take up only about 1 Gigabyte of disc space, graphics, level data and programming code occupy most of the remaining 21."
And people were saying the Blu Ray Disks wouldn't be taken advantage of by games coming out, and that typical DVDs would be fine for next-gen games. Too bad even with an HD-DVD drive the X360 won;t have this kind of storage.

Thanks for that. Took the very words from out of my mouth.

And it really does sound pretty good. Shaking the controller to get monsters off you? Much better than wiggling the sticks or D-pad. Its got a really interesting style to it as well, the monsters (though a tad generic) look amazing in HD. Should be pretty good, as long as the gameplay elements are all tweaked to perfection....

btw toshiba are making a 45 g hd-dvd
Great, but sort of: who cares? Its already been stated and re-stated and re-stated that 360 games will not use HD-DVDs.

then why would they bother to make one?
2 reasons:

1. Choice. Sony is "forcing" Blu-ray functionality on consumers. MS will let them choose whether to spend the money or not, depending on how important HD movies are to them.

2. To compete with Blu-Ray. The PS3 will be the cheapest Blu-ray player out there and MS's will be the cheapest HD-DVD player out there (if you go with the core 360 and not the premium). If you look at both of the high-end gaming machines, the prices are the same when the HD-DVD/Blu-ray drives are added in, but Sony actually gives you the ability to play Blu-ray games whereas MS will only have games on DVDs. I think this is where MS made a big mistake personally. Storage on current media will become a significant problem this generation and if they don't change their tune there will be plenty of disc-swapping going on for 360 players....

but they could eventually make games available on hd-dvd ..kinda like how there's a cd and dvd version of most pc games ..in 5 years time ...both formats (or whatever format survives) will be dirt cheap

Hahaha! Yes, they could. It just means they would have to eat their words...which is something that camp is not at all unused to.:p

true ..and this generation more than last seems to be about selling accessories

listened to 1up podcast last week discussing the future of the 360 and a Microsoft spokesperson said that their goal is to sell the core xbox for $150 ..and that the premium version would disappear ...seems to me like they want consumers to buy as many peripherals as possible ..therefore customising your 360 experience ..if you want a mostly entertainment xbox you could buy a hd-dvd + larger hardrive etc

From my impressions and the ones i read from E3 , the game isn't good. Gaming sites weren't impressed by it and neither am i.

Don't give the "game isn't out yet" bullshit. I though D# would suck and it did , so was Q4. I had my doubts about prey and it turned out I was correct there too so i'm relying on my judgment rather what the developers want me to think , but hey , i'm ready to be pleasantly surprised with the game.

It's not as though changing dvd once in a game is any hardship. Extra storage certainly isn't a feature that interests me at this stage, and definately not something that would sway me towards the PS3 (Sony are going to have to do a whole lot more to get my cash). Some original and decent looking games, that aren't MGS and DMC etc, would.

While I haven't been impressed with the PS3 so far, I don't predict its doom like many naysayers have been recently. It'll probably sell very well and have some cracking games. Touting the benefits of blueray does seem like clutching at straws at the moment, though. It's worrying when the most exciting thing some people can come up with about a console is the size of its media.

Whoopdeedoo!! \o/ ;)

I personally hate that business model. I think consoles should promote uniformity so that developers can push it to the limit and get the most out of it. For example, all PS3 games will be made knowing that every single unit is equipped with a HD and a Blu-Ray player. For 360, you won't see anything but MMOs depend on the HD and I doubt you'll ever see a game use the HD-DVD player.

I'm going to make a prediction that by the end of the 360s lifespan you'll see games taking up 3-4 DVDs, and in many cases you'll have to switch between them regularly when moving from one place to another, much like with the original Playstation. Hell, games like San Andreas and God of War already push current DVD9s to the limit and use extremely advanced compression.

Personally, I don't really mind switching between DVDs. It's not really that big a deal. As long as the game is great, then I don't have any problems. :)
