Okay, I enjoy playing cs: s in a window. Last few times, it's become harder and harder to have the game go into the resolution I want. I have my desktop in a 1024x768 pixel resoluion. When I open Steam or CS:S, or HL2, it alters my desktop resolution to 800x600, and doesn't return it to 1024x768. When I return it manually through the control panel, it turns the desktop to 1024x768, but the game stays huge, and the cursor is messed up when trying to click on things. Any help? It didn't used to do this before, but started acting up for some reason.

It even happens with Steam? Now that IS weird :/

First off, try verifying your files. It will check if CS:S has any corrupted files or anything, and fix them if it does.

If the problem persists, try reinstalling Steam (write down your username and password!). I'm not sure if you'll have to reinstall Half-Life 2 and the other games if you reinstall Steam, but to be safe, back up your files :

Start Steam. --> Go to the 'Play Games' tab. --> Right-Click on CS:S. --> Select 'Backup game files'. --> Select the games you want backed up. --> Follow the rest of the instructions. --> When done, reinstall Steam.

I think I figured it out. I just needed to reset my video configs. If it acts up again, I'll just keep resetting.
