Hi all, just a quick question. I can't get anything above 1024 x 768 right now cos i got a crap graphics card (GeForce440 mx se). Im wondering if I'll be able to get bigger resolutions with my shiny new radeon 9800 pro 128 Mb.

Thanks in advance

No a ati radeon can only run at 800*600 maximum :upstare:

you are jokin arnt u? that cant be true, my 440 can do better than that, what r u on about?

you'll get playable frame rates on 1280*1024 with medium, it may get alittle choppy on High level settings further on in the game, it does depend on your processor and RAM. (no AF or AA).

yeh ofcourse i was jking lol

I play HL2 in lurvely Widescreen mode: 1360 x 768. It's delightful and doesn't seem to have any problems with 4x AA, 4x AF and 'reflect all' on. I have a P4 3.OGhz and 1024MB Ram, which probably helps the 9800 Pro out.

It will also look much better as well, as you'll be able to take advantage of Direct X 9, which was unsupported by your previous card.

i got 2.8 GHz processor
1 Gb DDR RAM
80 Gb Hard Drive

What sort of setting can i get with those specs with 1024 x 768 or higher?

You will manage the game with full effects on that system at 1024x768. I have the same except i got a 6600gt, which isnt as good as the radeon cards in HL2, but I can still play at high settings 1024x768 smooth enough (besides the sound stuttering).

AWESOME
thanks
hey could u send me a screenshot of HL2 runnin on ur system so i can see what it should look like please?
dont worry if u cant be bothered
email is [email protected]
thanks either way

thanks a lot man, what r ur exact specs and wot settings have u got there?

I have a P4 2.8ghz, 1gb of PC2100 Ram, GeForce 6600GT AGP 8X graphics card, Audigy2 ZS soundcard.

Screenshot was taken at 1024x768, High textues, High models, "Reflect all" water, all teh other options on high, DX9 mode and no AA or AS...yeah, I know, but I dont go around the game looking for smooth edges .

In the Stress test, I got 84fps average.

Enuff info? :stare:

i just an AMD 2100+ at 1733mhz and 512DDR. GEFORCE4200ti is ma grfx card. running on windows xp. my HD is workin with RAID and a ASUS blabla motherboard. however i play HL² with 1024x768. details and effects and shadows all on high. AA AF 2x. ma fps varies from 20fps up to 110fps (ravenholm -.-). usual is 40-50. check out the screenies. .. i think its really OK for the system i have. i mean my PC is 3years old n i havent modified anything. im definetly satisfied cuz CSS even runs better.

With my specs I can play everything up all the way...Only problem is this crappy card can pull everything so it just ignores AA, AF and the refections

what sort of settings could i run with my specs (radeon 9800 pro 128Mb, 1Gb RAM, 2.GHz P4) on settings above 1024*768. im not sure of the exact numbers, sumthing like 1248 x 1024 and stuff?

My specs are
p4 3.2 ghz
1024 MB ram
ati radeon 9800

and I run Half-Life 2 in 1024*768 with everything on high, 6*AA and 16*AF with fully playable framerates

could i see a screenshot of that, im tryin to decide wether 1024 x 768 will b enuff for me when i get the game.
thanks much

I'll just say this. I'm running a 9700 pro 128 on an AMD 2800+ and I can run it at 1024 w/ full detail and it's smooth. So your 9800 pro should be fine...unless you've got a shit processor or no RAM
