Restarting Steam

Is there any known way to simply reconnecct to Steam in order to receive updates? Or do I continuously have to logout, disconnect the internet, reconnet and login again?

Huh? Right-click on Steam in the systray, click exit.

Find your normal Steam shortcut, double-click on it...

Not sure what you're doing...

I don't seem to be getting any updates, though.
