Restoring desktop shortcuts

I accidentally delted the shortcuts I wanted to keep, instead of the ones I wanted to get rid of. Is there an easy way to bring 'em back, or would I just have to go to all the programs and tell them to make new shortcuts? I used some windows program thing on windows XP, a pop-up came up and told be there were unused shortcuts, and I was bored... you get the deal?

I know it's stupid, but did you check the Recycle Bin?

You could try system restore, go back 1 day.

I did try the recycle bin. Not system restore...

Windows Desktop Cleanup Wizard creates and leaves a folder on your desktop, called (Unused Desktop Shortcuts) with all the folders you've just cleaned in them.
You can open that folder and restore them all by, right-clicking every each one of them and choosing "Send to, Desktop (Create Shortcut)"
