As one walks through the Half-Life Two Dot Net art museum one cannot help but splendour at the exhibits. This fortnight of all fortnights has presented a slightly more perverse display of artistic beauty, yet beautiful it is none the less. This spot to my left, for instance, was once home to one of Pinkle's more revealing paintings, yet in its place rots a discarded corpse. Obviously the work of a skilled artist, as you can see the hyperbolic use of gore enunciates the victim's condition somewhat boldly. The juxtaposition of this piece with the subtler murder over in that corner (can you see it? It's the body with the soft specks of blood scattered delicately over its chest) brings an interesting diversity into the room. Quite stunning really. Did you know, there is a controversial painting of the late Fenric hidden beneath the smear of guts on that wall? [br] [br] What caused this contortion of our gallery, you ponder? Why, it was our splendiferous Art Contest! Sir, I must insist, you have never seen such combat. Limbs and bodily organs are hurled to and fro as liberally as one waves a brush, and chivalric concerns are abandoned in favour of artistic licence. In fact, just over here you can see the winning entries! Read all about them on this mounted plaque: [br] [br]
The New Art Contest #1 Results [br] [br] Voting for the HL2.net art contest has now ended! It's been a wonderful competition, full of some really creative people and pictures alike, and we'll certainly be following it up with subsequent contests. [br] [br] Congratulations to Dodo, who won with 46% of the vote. His painting was truly spectacular; to see it, click the image below. [br] [br] [br] [br]Hats off to him. In second place was Vegeta's excruciatingly detailed pixel artwork, which took a whopping 60 hours to complete in MS paint. [br] [br]Oh, go on then. Vegeta gets the first and probably last HL2.net "Pixel Art Award"... [br] [br]
[br] [br]...on the one condition that he doesn't brag. HAH! CATCH 22! [br] [br]Aw, dang, I forgot I was a plaque. Remember Sui, plaques aren't colloquial! [br] [br]To see the other competition entries, click here.
[br] [br] Golly, I hadn't actually read that until now. Plaques are getting more bizarre by the minute - give it a week and they'll have developed conscious thought and will have conquered Wales.
