Anyone suffered from reversed sound whit a 5,1 setup? eg peeps voices come out of back speakers , and you have to stand with your back to them to hear what they are saying.
Well, I've seemed to fix the problem for at least myself. Up until now I've only been playing HL2 and been quite dissapointed with the sound prob (but counted myself lucky I didn't have the stuttering probs). Well tonight I thought lets see what this CS:S is all about, I launched the game and noticed the stress test, thought ok I'll give that a whirl ( 58.41 with every thing on max and res at 1280 x 1024, on a A64 3500+, 1gb ram, 6800GT rig) Anyway, I thought I would look at the settings and I noticed that there was a test the sound button, so I chose the 5.1 option and pressed the button, it loaded up a static top down room screen and the test only test a left and right speaker. I thought this isn't right, so I tried it again, changed the sound off 5.1 to 2 speakers apply'd, then changed it back to 5.1 apply'd changed the res upto 1280., pressed the test sound button. Ok, it now thinks I have 5 speakers and the test made the sounds come out of the right speakers. So I thought, Wayhey! lets see if HL2 is fixed, and too my disbelief it is!
I've just speant the last hour playing in glorious 5.1, just finsihed the hovercrafty thing level, and this game is soooo cool, it's , it's....... Great!
Anyway, hope this helps anyone who had this problem, I know it's not a common issue but have read about that some have had it.
BTW, still not got to play CS:S yet!
