Ok well about 3 or 4 years ago I bought a custom computer from cyberpowerinc.com. With it I decided to order a thermometer that would fit inside of one of the 5.25" bays, heres a picture Unit Sorry about the blurryness. After a while of taking the computer completely apart I looked at the thermometer and noticed on the back portion of it was able to power fans, heres a picture of the back Back Of Unit Again sorry about the blurryness.
So I decided to take it apart and found out that the bottom button on the front actually turns on the fans. It would not act like a switch but the fans would only go on when the button was pressed down which seems pretty stupid.
Now the thing I am wondering is there a way I can rewire it so that the bottom button operates as a switch going from low to medium to high? I can get my brother to solder the stuff. Now if I cant rewire it to have the button allow me to change the speed is there a way I can turn it into a switch and possibly add a rheostat between where the fan's cable connects to the back of the themometer and to where the cable goes to the back of the little LCD screen? Possibly cut the white wire that corresponds to each fan slot and place a rheostat there?
I've tried looking for some brand name on the part and the only thing I can find is 'Wan Nien', been googling to see if theres any sort of guide to make your own using the same parts.
I've got some extra pictures that are not blurry that show some good detail.
Front Display with cover off
Back of fan connector
Otherside of fan connector Kinda blurry.
