Good ol' Rizzuh, the leader behind the famous, old and incredibly popular CSNation has had the chance this week to visit Valve HQ and playtest the upcoming cs_assault map which is slated for release later on today and that we reported on earlier.

Rizzuh has put a nice and informative article together, covering Assault itself and some of the goings-on in Valve-Land at the moment. Here's a snippet:
Cliffe explained that with his version of Assault he was given more freedom than the company usually allows with map ports — or even remixes. Inferno and Dust II, for example, had to maintain certain lines of sight and unit distance with their earlier versions because of their competitive use. Assault wasn't forced to adhere to these criteria, Cliffe explained, because it's a map played on public servers and at LAN parties with friends.

The new terrorist model should ship with Assault.
With his years of experience with Counter-Strike and its finest details, Jess Cliffe has a keen eye when it comes to gameplay. It shows in the Assault remake. While Assault is still Assault — and terrorists still have somewhat of an advantage — there are various changes that give the gameplay more flavor and stand to give the CTs a fighting chance.
Go check it out, along with some new screenshots here.

Update: Alfred Reynolds has just sent an e-mail round saying that a Counter-Strike: Source update will be released "within the next couple of hours" which will include the new cs_assault. He also added at the end "This is not a drill"; a reference to yesterday which was when the update was originally going to be released, but later cancelled. Watch this space!

The terrorist model doesn't like that bad at all :)

What, did he not ask about TF2?

For shame. After the news about it back in April, I thought people might have had their interest peaked.

I'm sure he would have asked. Doesn't mean he'd get info.

I asked in the Q&A I did with Doug. He didn't answer, therefore I omitted the question.

God, I can't WAIT for the new assault.

I'm going to scream if they don't do militia next though.

You should have assumed he wanted you to answer the question for him :)

Chris_D: so waht abut TF2!?!1
Dougg: yah, it dun now. we iz testin it hahahJK loll!!1

I loved the original assualt map, it was basically the only map that made cs worth it to me :p

...And it was after this post that the Senior Member SixThree was never heard of again. Some speculate he came too close to the truth, others say that he went into early retirement. Both are true to some degree...
Either way... *£BERHB&$%&%^&* GET OFF ME! %^&%*££ I WILL REPORT THE TRUTH *£^$&%&*

Militia will look gorgeous on Source

EDIT: It looked pretty fine on Condition Zero...

i hope Cliffe gets to remake Vegas and Nuke as well.

Either that or de_nuke :)

Militia should look much like dust does, all dusty and crap with dust particles floating around, and the light filtering from the openings on the sewers, damn can't wait for it.

Very cool stuff. Cant wait for update.

didnt you say that upthere?
Yes, I did. It was an update to the original news post though and as most forum lurkers don't ever check back on the first post I added it to the thread as well.
