The chinese will build a road over mount everest. It won reach the top but to be able to go by car to 5.2 km high is not bad.

Personally i don't like it that much. This is more of a showoff project than actually a practical thing. It will definitely demystify the mountain. I guess there are some ecological issues too.

How on Earth?

Im sure the money could go to something else.....ya know....practical.

The Chinese are indeed trying to conquer every mountain, as the saying goes.

Hardly practical though is it really? I seriously doubt this will go ahead.

You'd think that the Chinese government have more important things to do than to build a pointless road to a fucking mountain.

"Would Sir Edmund Hillary have approved?"

He's still alive ffs...

*drool* imagine doing a togue run down that road... or even just a downhill time attack down Mt.Everest. That would be epic.

Let's imagine, you know, a free China. Or even a conquered Tibet that has its own damn culture. That'd be epic.

Like a road to...THE MOON!

Who'd have thought this would be the coolest picture I'd fine after image searching "moon road?" :hmph:

Perhaps you can elaborate?

i can't say for sure, but destroying the natural environment is one. the huge amounts of trash the tourists will leave. and i hope they wont be building a coal power plant up there.

It would be my luck that my car would break down at the very top. Anyway yeah as some other members have said you would think that the Chinese's gov. would have better things to do than build a road on a huge ass mountain and possibly destroy the thing! It just wont be the same climbing the mountain and watching cars drive by! "In recent news there has been a drive by shooting on Mt.Everest!" lol sorry just had to say that.

The relay plans have already run into problems with regional fault lines. Taiwan refused to let the torch pass through its territory, a move that enraged Beijing, which claims that the self-ruled island is a renegade province.
I love it when the Taiwanese give the mainland Chinese a nice little "f*ck you". They definitely deserve it here.

Why should anyone care, other than it's a waste of resources? It's just a big-ass mountain. There is nothing 'mystical' or 'holy' about it.

Hmmm im thinking that ever mountain and lake has to be a freaking resort these days....douse anyone agree?

Oh, then I guess we should totally burn the amazon rainforest. It's juat a big-ass rainforest.

On the other hand, I do think the 'waste of resources' thing is pretty big.

The only similarity between building a road on Mount Everest and burning rainforests is a colossal waste of resources.

so that means that while there is people breaking theyr asses by climbing it by foot, someone can pass in a car and say "shove it dumbasses!" and smoke them out?

I wish some of these imbeciles would read up before posting. The road doesn't actually go up Mt. Everest. F*cking morons.

I don't give a shit, I'm opposed to the building of roads altogether!

We should totally fly everywhere!
