Heh. Well, as I post this thread, i'm packing for a 1250 mile trip from Dallas to California, to spend a week or so there on vacation visiting family. On the way back, its another 1250 miles.

This, however, is nowhere near the longest road trip i've taken before. In my lifetime, i've probably driven/been driven along the roads from california to alaska, and texas to alaska about 13 times, back and forth. I would like to say the distance each way is about 4000 or so miles, but i'm not entirely sure, as I can't completely recall. However, its a hell of a long distance. Just look at the map from Anchorage Alaska to Dallas Texas, and follow the roads going up to Fairbanks from Anchorage, taking the alaskan highway to the Yukon, down through british columbia, east to Alberta, and Saskatchewan, then heading south through the states towards Texas.

Looong road trip distance. Heh.

What are some of the longest trips you guys have driven, or been driven?

Actually, this trip i'm pairing with my dad. He wants to go visit his dad, my grandpa since he's not doing so well right now. I'm going along with him, and we'll be sharing driving loads for this particular trip.

And the longest road trip i've done, was semi seamlessly, but we took a few days stopover to visit family. We went from Anchorage alaska, to California, then eastwards to Iowa, then northwards looping back to Alaska.

Never been on a really long drive.

But i'm having overwhelming urges to drive into the center of Australia and commune with the universe. Yeah.

I drove from my home in PEI to Quebec City in one night, I was pretty tired lol

The longest trip I've done was when I was little. Iowa to Maine (through Canada) and back through the US. Although I go to Arizona and Florida just about every year.

err, LA to Yellowstone national park...

i can't figure out the kms...

actually, it prolly isn't, including motel rooms, gas, insurance, and the wear and tear on your car.

Actually the price probably isn't that much greater. The cost of fuel probably even outweighs the ticket.

Once I drove to the store....

I doubt it... the gas to go 4000 miles? Probably more than any airplane... especially in Canada. Average of 2.30 P/G is 370 bucks @ 25MPG... can probably get a plane ticket for that... the saved time is worth it.

/me multiplies 4000 by 1.6

errr, 24 + 40 = 64, 64000 * 0.1 = 6400

6400kms? It may be costlier, but if he uses diesel or something that costs less, maybe not.

without sleeping or eating, of course.

Aeroplanes in the UK can be much cheaper than trains or driving.
£20-£30 a flight sometimes.

I don't think I've ever been in a car for more than maybe 4 hours? Cept maybe when I was around 2 or 3

I envy you... I have the strongest urge to hit Seattle and then somewhere California... I just want to go to the west coast so bad :(

:O What company? To where? Am I the only person who doesn't know about all these cheap things in the UK, first noodles now plane tickets. :o

went all the way to Hungary in one go (had to stop on the ferry, of course) with a massive drooling rottweiler in the back of the car. It was not too much fun.

Me and mate are going to England for a week or so to see how the english people can party !!!

I live in belgium and i'm 17 years old (18 in august) so i'll be allowed in all the clubs and we'll show those english people how to partyyyy !!!

Easyjet, or some other no thrills airlines.

You can goto Barcelona, Geneva, or even Warsaw. Or just domestic flights if you prefer.

Make sure you bring a bat.

Just kidding.

But bring a bat, and some kevlar.

I want to do a drinks run to Moscow one day/week. But I heard once you get East of Warsaw it's a bit hard to refuel sometimes, not to mention some dangerous environments.

The longest road trip I ever made : from one 7eleven on one side of the road to the other 7 eleven on the other side of the road

yeah try not to get jumped

and date raped

Planks with nails dont cut it anymore, you need a plank with knives

*writes them all down in case i ever go to a foreign country*

what about ceramic plates? do you need them too?

Yeah, those paper ones just aren't worth the bother. Sure they're easy to carry, and you can throw them away... but have you ever tried eating a meal off one of those? Lets not even go into holding one while trying to stick your fork into some meat...

it depends what foreign country you go to, if its america u really need red meat laced with sleep inducing drugs.

and if its germany the same applies but with sausgaes.

dont worry about france. no one is going there
----------------------------------------------------------
agreed, however! the paper bowls are great i managed to eat a curry outa one of those, and it was a bloody lush curry!!

And if u ever go to Bath go to Al Falafel, that is the best takeaway:)

well, as my trip to a foreign country by car will have to be made in the night, and cutting through barbed wire, avoiding land mines, dodging military vehicles and police, i probably won't be going anywhere with a car.

How about we just drive a tank? Problem solved.

it would be illegal....

and, tank + landmines = busted tank

CREMATOR666 said:
Then go with a hover tank! :smoking:

too expensive.....

btw:

i think that road trips are fun, but i also think that airplanes are better.
