Robert Newman's "A History of Oil" (a must watch, I shit you not)

he's quite the showman ..I'm about 30 mins in ..pretty compelling stuff, (mostly not new for me but I hadnt connected the dots on the ww1 thing)

the dali analogy was well done, didnt know that about him

edit: it ended on an all too scary note. He said there were 3 things that the audience would disagree with but only listed one (ww1) ..did I miss the other 2?

I hadnt heard of Newman, wiki says he's quite popular in the UK ..off the top of my head I cant think of a single north american counterpart (Michael moore but it's not the same level)

Other two were jokes I believe Stern.

Some of his stuff was quite scary. A bit apocalyptic, but however alot of the stuff (if it is true) *should* really turn heads.

I'm curious if the Zinc thing was actually true (Wikipeding)... Turns out it is (sort of), but doesn't sound like a very viable method. Definently going to have to get rid of that whole overpopulation problem soon. Earth can't support this many humans.

Of course that population and agricultural land needed statistic is a bit foolish, we all know that atleast 25% of the world population would die before actually working like that. Of course that's assuming robotic research doesn't advance enough to cover for the lazy.

I saw this when it was on TV. I was hoping it'd show up on the interweb some time. Good find.

The film was an excerpt from his one man show, the other two may have been in the other parts(its been a year so I cant recall, exactly).

Im curious, what part has you wondering if its true or not(beyond the zinc-air/walnut whip joke) ?

The interesting thing there is that we do have a tireless slave working for us at the moment ............ its called oil!

I like how he gives a new meaning to "start by applying your ideas to yourself". Good analogies as well.

Nice find.
