Robin Cook Dies

Whoa, so it's really true. Someone said it while I was playing CS but I figured they were just bs'ing, as you do.

That's pretty sad, to be honest. I never used to think much of him until he made the most amazing resignation speech in protest against going to war in Iraq, which I totally didn't expect of him. I found out then that he was quite a genuine, smart man, and one of the only ones in the Labour party capable of pwning British foreign policy with his eloquence. He may have since covered for the occasional New Labour poostain, but he was by no means as much as a brown-nosing Blair cultist as many others in the party, and for that I respected him.

A blow to British politics.

Edit - Here's that speech I mentioned.

He still supported blair, so good riddence.

Rest In Peace

I respected him for his views on the war.

Ugh, have some respect. You've really got problems if you don't care that he died, just because he belonged to a certain political party. He stood up for what he believed in, and his stirring speech was truly remarkable and unexpected from one of Blair's key men. If you can't put your own views away for a minute just to pay respect for someone, well, that's amazing.

R.I.P Robin Cook.

"It is with regret I have today resigned from the cabinet.

I can't accept collective responsibility for the decision to commit Britain now to military action in Iraq without international agreement or domestic support."

R.I.P Robin Cook.

It's a huge loss to politics. He was a very clever man and a real shame he died at such a young age. :(

Is he the dude that narrated "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"?
