Looks awesome, since it's on UE3. But is it any good?
I remember that weird demo for it on way back, and it was pretty lame. but that was just a demo and while ago...

Hmm... for only $15, I'll check it out if it dosent get too many bad reviews.

Have they gotten the demo working on AMD's?

I remember when the demo first came out, and it was Intel only : /

Can't run it with 9800pro. I'm not going to upgrade untill dx10 comes so no 19 levels of high-intensity action for me...

I'm in the same boat. My 9800XT doesn't even support this game :(

I hope UT2007 will be forgiving.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first UE3 engine game on the PC now.

Wooo :D

Yeah, the first game that lets you use the UE3 map editor.

Hmm, Steam or XBL that is the question.

Will try the demo later and see if it's best on mouse or pad I guess.

I'm gonna check it out right away.

The game got a 8.0/10 at IGN

Edit : Steam servers are SLOW ... 250 KB/s??? Come on!!!!!!!

I would get this... if my graphic card was supported... which it isn't :[

just as I thought UE3 sucks ass

it's like UE2 but with reflections and better lighting ... but it's still ugly

Well, goddamn. Aren't you just right about everything?

It's not the engine, it's how you use it.

This game is so much fun. You can hug people, then smash them! Or take the rocket launcher, it plants basically thrusters on the target which accelerate then blow up into fire works!

Awesome!

If only the levels didn't suck, the core of physics and wacky stuff are such a blast.

I remember a tech demo of this months ago, I hope the engine is less abusive than it was then.

I can't play the demo since it asks for the 6.14 drivers or something, although I just updated my drivers like 6 days ago...

I'm surprised they are releasing this on steam, if you look at the hardware stats for steam very few users are running the sort of high end cards this engine requires.

I just ran through the demo with my ol' 6600 card & it handled it real smooth-like. Me likey. Hm, wonder if 2k7 is gonna get a steam release...

If you mean Unreal Tournament 2007: don't count on it.

9800 pro users are getting the tough end of the stick :(.

Not that I'd play it anyway on this rig. the UE3 engine is mainly for graphical crap.

Ya know, its not like people with 2.0 cards didnt know this was going to happen....

At one point epic said that UE3 would be ps3.0 only, so even 2.0b support is surprising to me.

Having now played the demo I was not especially impressed.

Dont think that because this UE3 your going to get amazing graphics, they were average, no sign of in game anti-aliasing or anti-strophic option.

The game play was ok, but a little boring at times, it would have been nice to have tried the full range of extras, instead of locking out some despite having enough credit.

I found the whole spontaneous teleporting of enemies on key events annoying, especially when your locked into a view only cut scene.

But on the plus side the physics guns were fun, I enjoyed leaving my enemies attached to the ceiling, and its priced right at $15.

A big help was realizing that you can jump on barrels and other objects if you hold your arms open like your about to grab something.

I'm a bit surprised they're not at least trying to support these cards, but you gotta blame ATi a bit for being so behind in the shader race (I remember telling people back then not to bother with NVidia cards 'cos no one was using the new shader models  )

Firstly, you can turn on antialiasing in the options, and it does use it. Anisotropic filtering is also obviously being used. But seeing as you judge a graphics engine by whether it turns on those switches in the graphics card, I honestly doubt you'd be able to tell.

Graphical analysis by someone who has a clue (i.e. me): The graphics are good. In places very good, in places not so good (there are a lot of low-res texture floating around, and while the detail on some areas is almost UT2k7 level, it's more UT2k3 on others. What the graphics definitely do is show some of what UE3 can do - really great lighting going on, some very high levels of detail happening, great effects like DOF and a lighting model that's realistic on brightness. Well worth downloading the demo to have a look at these, and see how your system hacks it. Edit: The biggest issue I have, which isn't an engine thing but just this game, is the bloom from the lights sometimes works out so the entire screen just has a layer of grey over it (see the 3rd screenshot for what I mean).

Other stuff: Gameplay is fairly good, movement is a bit clunky though. Not quite varied enough for me to splash out for the game on actual gameplay value alone. Physics is superb, really works well. Spent ages messing around with some of the tools you get, Garry's Mod (or equivalent) on UE3 is something I am really looking forward to! Sound is good (try smashing stuff into other stuff, it works well). Edit: Not too buggy for me - so far only bug I've found is that it doesn't let go of the mouse properly when you alt+tab out. Likes to load both my 3.8ghz cores to 100% so it's obviously doing a lot - possibly while(isNextGen) lookBusy(); ?

Definitely worth checking this out. The fact you get the new Unreal Editor if you buy it seals the deal for me.

I can only assume your talking about the full game as I could not see any such option in video section of the demo.

Again I can only assume your talking about the full game or maybe you just have a lower expectation of whats good these days than me. But I still think the demo graphics were average with a lot of lighting blur.

The full game is no different to the demo, graphics wise. I still stand by my position that it shows some damn good lighting off. You're right, anti-aliasing isn't in the options, not sure what I was smoking. Would obviously be trivial for them to add it in but it's a strange oversight.

Edit: -smash-, that sucks the proverbial donkey! Are they serious? That's a big downer :( Is it gonna be like this for all UE3 games?

Who cares about graphics? You can't expect that much visually from a game that costs $15.

I've already got it and I'm downloading it now. Hopefully it'll run okay on my system (Athlon 64 3200+ and 6600GT).
