This may very well be the best game ever. Check out the ending! :D

Buy a shitty acoustic and get learning something interesting instead, and not another DDR rip.

Go join the military and shoot something interesting, and not another polygonal model.

The game looks badass.

Man that looks awesome. The ultimate party game.

Too bad I don't have any friends :(

For ****s sake.
Why do we ALWAYS have to go through this.

When you played duck-hunt. Did someone tell you're gay and that you should buy a dog, a gun, and go hunting for real?

**** no.

We don't play guitar hero because we think/want that we can learn/play REAL guitar. We play it's cause it's ****ing fun. The same with ddr. I can't dance for shit but that game is a blast, but you look silly playing it.

If by playing guitar hero i should instead pick up a real guitar and play. Are you saying instead of playing Half Life I should pick a gun and shoot real people.

Put your epeen away and if you have nothing constructive to say.. Don't ****ING SAY IT.

I think you have friends. Enjoy your party game.

..wait

I think this game should definitely have some of The Darkness, just to destroy the vocal chords of 99% of the gaming populace.

Justin Hawkins (of The Darkness) just has an amazing range. If this game is any good it will let you sing down an octave.

What will really **** up people vocals is straining for any screeches or screams.

I can scream metalcore safely, but anything else (false cord or death) is really rough on your vocal chords if you haven't got EVERYTHING right.

Somehow I doubt we're going to be seeing death metal in this game.

:p

Gamespot took the video down, here's another link

Hey all,

The video of a trailer you may have seen on various sites was taken from a conference where attendees are generally encouraged to be casual and show off the new stuff they are working on privately. Unfortunately, an attendee broke the conference rules and videotaped the talk. The trailer was made from an old build of the game quite some time ago for internal purposes- basically to get people working on the game excited. The song was one we have considered for the game but haven’t locked down, and you may have noticed that the trailer footage was made so long ago that the people in the video are playing old instruments and prototypes. I guess what I am saying is- this isn’t official and doesn’t really reflect the final game at all. We’ll be releasing a lot of info next week from much newer builds of the game with finalized songs.

Rock,

Sean

Sweet!

What I'm wondering is for the vocals if they treat your vocals as "buttons" in a sense... Everyone else hears the REAL singer who made the song instead of the crappy people singing and playing the game. Also would cut down on lag too so you didn't have to send that voice data across the internet. Who knows though :-\ Maybe they do and you just can't hear it in this video.

Awesome, love it. The drum component looks great. They haven't gone all out on it, but it seems very competent and functional for it's purpse - which hopefully spells good things for the price. If this song is any indication, the drum parts are going to be very faithful to the songs aswell, which is great. As long as we get some more complicated parts to wrap our heads and hands around :)

Loved the improv sections too. Looking all around pretty damn awesome!

Apart from the females I have seen play it, I am the world's worst Guitar Hero. If anything I'm the Guitar Robin to everyone else' Guitar Batman (as seen in Batman Begins).

I think I'd be best at drums... maybe.

IGN has impressions up. Some cliffs for you illiterate/lazy fools out there :p

MTV let us in on its plans for the various tracks -- the most impressive of which is a proposed 100+ downloadable tunes in the game's first year alone. As an added bonus, the EA/ MTV/ Harmonix trio is using its muscle and money to secure as many master tracks as possible. Of the eight announced songs so far, six of them are the original masters

Even better is the fact that you can save a bad band member who may have "failed out" of your current song by using one of those aforementioned signature moves -- it psyches up the audience and allows a laboring buddy to hop back into the action. You can even compete for a special points power-up known as "Unison Phrase" that rewards all four band members for playing perfectly. In other words, there's a lot of depth here.

Sounds like the drum apparatus is solid:
Playing the drums in Rock Band is similar to the guitar tracks -- just follow the beat and hit the correctly colored drum head. The drum kit itself is laid out with four pads in a slight semi-circle pattern on the stands. Naturally, they're not as heavy-duty as a real drum kit, but they were more substantial than I thought they would be. Being made of foam, they can really take a beating

And it's implemented quite well-
As a rep from Hamonix told us, "If you can play the drum parts on hard, you can pretty much play the drums."

The interface is looking much more crisp and sleek. I like the new rectangle LED-like notes.

Noooice.

Look sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Imma have to get out ma Tasty Licks and Riffs for this game. (For those of you who don't know, my musician username [For guitar sites and whatnot] is TastyLicksandRiffs [My new Photobucket account FTW] and for whenever it doesn't fit usually TastyLicks or TastyRiffs).

No seriously though, looks good. Better than just playing by yourself {Or even with a friend on Guitar Hero, you actually get a singer and drummer now, woot}.

Can. Not. Wait!
I are can play the drums slightly so I'll prolly be the drummer of my band :D

I'm really excited for this, mainly because I want to play the drums. I'm already the best guitarist of the people I know so I have that to fall back on. I'm more into getting into drums since it's fun to have that ground-up experience for building skills.

I'm not kidding, this is so badass. This is what EVERYBODY said these types of games should do....even when the singing games first came out. Then these guys are going to do it. I'm so stoked for this, I WANT IT NOW :(

I wouldn't count on the game as training in any sense. Although, it *will* help build your sense of beat and timing. Useful in any musical endeavor if you ask me.

It'll be fun none-the-less

I'm with Amish alot, mainly into the Guitar Hero side of things. He's the best guitarist he knows *In R/L? Not in GH?* but I'm one of the best guitarist for GH I know, so maybe if I get the drums down..I'll be able to get better at the guitar portion...hopefully.

I want the drum part simply because I air-drum practically everything I listen to. I learn stuff by ear and tap it out to perfection. I seriously want to see some blisteringly hard stuff on here for me to play again and again until I can ace it without even checking the screen. That's just my thing :E

This worries me a bit though - "If you can play the drum parts on hard, you can pretty much play the drums."

So what if you can already play the drums? Guitar Hero was awesome because it was a challenge for guitarists and newbies alike - it was just different enough that it was in it's own league. Just hoping the drum component isn't so similar to the real thing (the playing, not the kit itself) that they have to dumb it down for those without experience...

Of course, I'm not expecting this to be the definitive experience. If I want that, I'll go play my real kit ;)

Edit - Also, from watching that video, I can say the drum portion of the game will definitely be educational in some sense. I'm really curious to see how they ease you into beats with the easy and medium modes. Start out with one or two pads, just keeping a steady rhythm, then slowly introduce the bass drum and start getting more complicated. Any newbie drummer will tell you getting over this hurdle is one of the hardest parts of learning, so it could be a great help for anyone getting into it.

I didn't mean that I plan to use this game as training for actually playing drums. I just like the overall skill progression of the game itself. It'll be fun to start Rock Band on easy or normal for drums. It just wasn't as fun playing GH2 and just breezing through expert my first time.

I meant GH Guitar :p

It'll also be nice to have the drums in there so my friends can compete with me on some level. It hasn't been any fun playing against them in the last couple games because they'll be starting from scratch too.
