How would you go about making a cliff like this? Noise doesen't do it like that and I've tried doing it manually with 'paint geometry' but it doesen't come out looking as polished. So am I missing something?

Maybe a bunch of displacements sewn together?

edit: are you talking about the normal map like Stardog said?

It just looks like that texture has an insane normal map. If you apply that texture to your cliffs, yours will probably look like that too.

Although i'm no expert :afro:

Just make individual displacements, they dont have to be sewed together.
Make sure you make them no bigger than 1024 x1024, otherwise the triangles get all stretched out.

Use the arch tool with and set the tone grid level to 128 X 128. Apply the blendrockdirt texture and create a displacement with the proper faces selected. The light scale will input the shades on the rocks when the map is compiled with RAD. Input the power level at 2 if you are using a 128 X 128 scale. 512 X 512 at a .25 scale is measured to 128 formatted units.

Compile and enjoy.
