Rome: Total War... Anyone excited?

I am anyway! It looks absolutely amazing! I haven't tried the Medival or Shogun one, but I just aquired the demo and it's brilliant. Also lookin forward to the non-battle content like building the army and managing cities. Can't wait!

Apparently Rome : TW supports a lot more units than BFME.

Besides...Rome : TW isn't just about battles.

I heard BFME only supports arond 400 units. Also in an interview the designer said "This game isnt meant to be the best rts game out there it is meant to be the best lotr game" Sounds kind of half-assed.

R:TW is too easy, just rush everything at the enemy general and leave the ranged stuff behind.

tried the demo ... just rushed them with my elephants and they all ran away not much tactics involves there ... to easy :bonce:

Try playing it on a harder setting and come back and say its easy and no strategy involved. :angel:

Perhaps if you'd switch the difficulty on a higher setting you wouldn't be having such an easy time defeating the demo...

I reckon it'll be a great game!

RTW looks awsome.

And yeah, play it on the hardest difficulty.

Mind you they HAVE put all your units into position its not hard to win the demo, as the Romans are right in your trap. All you need to do is time your 3 pronged attack.

Now if it started without you in position, it would be a lot longer and a lot better...

Im really looking forward to Battle for middle earth more, if you watch some of the videos youll see how alive the characters/soldiers look. Plust I tried the demo and was not very impressed, what I though would be and epic battle turned out to be a mash of units all making attack animations untill one side got scared and ran away. Charging the calvalry was fun though.

Well yeah I will admit, the Demo for RTW wasnt very impressive but there are mods that let you play with much more troops and its awesome, but im positive the full version will be much harder and alot better.


Also, that last pic with the blue roman units must be and old shot because if you look at the fire effects now, they look so much better and the battles look far larger then older shots we have seen.

As to BFME, it looks awesome but I prefer Historic accuracy over the LOTR kind of setting but I dont think battles in BFME will be as large as battles in RTW

Im gonna get both BFME and RMTW.

I cant say that I am looking forward to one more then one other.
RMTW seems to have greater gameplay but I am also a fantasy fan.

Meh, cant wait for the D&D based RTS.

But the elephants == Teh win
