I just watched the final episode of HBO's Rome today. If you haven't watched it you should. It's got HBO's usual trademarks. Pretty much every episode has atleast one person die on camera and sex of some sort. It is a bloody great series and everything wrapped up pretty well in the end. Pullo and Vorenus really steal the show.

Looks like a really good show, waiting for a time when I'm free to watch it. How many seasons are there?

Two and I've watched both. Great series. The best after The Wire and Oz.

Did they cancel this show allready? I heard Deadwood's cancelled too. Haven't watched it, but it's a shame if good a series is cancelled.

It's not cancelled it's just finished. Because the story is historically based, where plot developments don't occur every week, they wrapped it up after the civil war ended. Although I never did figure out what happened with the Jews. Maybe I missed an episode somewhere. Anyways, the series is something inbetween a long miniseries and a short tv show. It was always meant to end after season 2. It was also ridiculously expensive to shoot with all the extras and great costumes and sets.

They did mention financial reasons for ending it. Shame really, it beats the shit out of any historical time period movies I've seen.

and there's a lot of sex? there is a lot of sex right?

Rome owns! Very good show, and yes, there is a lot of sex scenes.

But I felt the ending was rushed. Very dissapointing imo, maybe historically accurate but still such an anti-climax. :/ :\

The show was amazing, but yeah I felt the ending was a bit rushed. The Antony/Octavian storyline ended great but the Pullo/Vorenus ending ... didn't like it so much.

It's funny how we end up rooting for Atia at the end even though she is a total air headed bitch, and Octavian goes from being the smart geeky little kid character to a really big jackass. I always hated Servilia though, through the whole show.

Do any of you read Jack Whyte's series of novels about Camulod? (Camalot). They are excellent books on their own right, but I think they would make an excellent HBO series, somewhat similar to Rome. Basically it makes sense of the whole King Arthur myth. It's mainly focused around Merlin.

I've seen the first season of Rome and thought it was fantastic. I love Titus and Vorenus. And the fight scene in the arena at the end of episode 11 completely blew me away (2nd last episode of season 1).

Loved rome, i especially liked the pullo story line and how brutus met his end

Great show. I watched all the episodes also. Shame its over, but now they can put their resources into A song of ice and fire!

And yeah, I dont remember anything happening with the Jews...

One of the brothers killed the other and they fled to Jerusalem. That was it ... the whole story arc never really went anywhere. It seems like they had planned for more (also with Vorenus/Pullo) but had to rush to tie things up in the end. I've got to say, the first season was a lot better.
