I thought this day would be totally boring, however it just turned out to be my happiest one this week a few minutes ago...
Now I'll have to take care of my test repetition tomorrow :(
So-called long shot candidate Ron Paul managed to finish 2nd place in the Nevada caucuses held today, which proves the Texas Representative may have more support around the country, and especially out west, than he's getting credit for.

Romney destroyed the competition in Nevada with over 50% of the vote and finished first. Ron Paul came in second with 14%, and John McCain finished third, with 13%.

Independents overwhelmingly supported Paul in the western state, which clearly helped propel Paul into a much needed second place finish. Normally, independents support the much more liberal John McCain.

Fred Thompson finished fourth, Mike Huckabee fifth and Rudy Giuliani, again falling far short of popular expectations, came in a distant sixth place. Duncan Hunter rounded out the GOP candidates with a seventh place finish, barely picking up 2% of the vote.

//edit: I already got a conspiracy theory for this: What if he was moved up by sinister forces to conform opposition towards voting machines and people suspicious of vote fraud???
Will this surprising skyrocketing in popularity hold on or will it cease as it came??
Is it just a farce??!
Only time and independent government investigations will tell.

I was speculating, I wasn't implying that this was true, I'm just afraid and intrigued that something is foul about this result, or what purposes this might be for.
Imagine, Ron Paul holds the second place, something's gotta be wrong here!!!

Paul made second place in the state, though.
And who cares about some mormon governor who only receives support by talking about his religion anywhere he goes?

Romney had upwards of 50% of the vote though. Let's get this straight, Ron Paul is no one's savior. If you want that utopian ideal of "freedom" then your better off living it regardless of the state, your family, your friends, etc. Otherwise, you'll never get even a taste of it.

Conspiracy theories are for idiots who don't have the brainpower necessary to understand how the world actually works, and need to explain everything away with the products of a hyperactive imagination. Get a bleedin' life.

Second place, in one state, with still a low percentage of the vote. I like Ron Paul, but hasn't got a chance of winning.

It looks like Romney will take the republican ticket.

Well, he came fourth in the South Carolina primary so that statement isn't very definitive. I'd say it's now mostly between McCain, Romney, and Huckabee. Giuliani is now completely dependent on his result in Florida and Thompson will probably bow out soon.

There is such a high degree of denial as to the very existence of Ron Paul in the mainstream Media at present, it's going to keep media studies students neck deep in research for the next 50 years. It's truly beyond a joke how much coverage the guy isn't getting. Sure, ultimately he probably doesn't stand a hope in hell of winning, but the very fact that mainstream publications like the New York Times, and the BBC (shockingly given they are supposed to be impartial) aren't even listing him in their poll breakdowns is a deeply troubling thing:-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/629/629/7145238.stm

It is as if he pretty much doesn't exist. How can a guy who's doing better than both Guliani & Thompson, not be listed? How can the media justify this continued exclusion? When he does get mentioned, it seems to be that the word 'maverick' crops up as his new label. I'm sure in a few more weeks they will have moved to 'crackpot' or 'eccentric', such is their impunity.

That is extremely strange...

Although BBC bias is nothing new.

3rd or 4th Ron Paul thread now from OP? Could I ask you keep all your updates in one thread from now on, thank you.

I don't expect Ron Paul to get the nomination this round, however his campaign is bringing to light many of the flaws in the US media, US voting system, political party structure, and the power of FREE COMMUNICATION (a.k.a. the internet). In the past, the media would have shut down his campaign very easily! One of my friends back in missouri was telling me how my home-town is about 50% Ron Paul supporters, which seems strange considering it's quite literally the bible-belt (having the headquarters to a major church denomination and tons of Christian colleges) and I would have expected Hucabee.

You never know. Even if he doesn't win, and gets second place in the primaries, he'll have made an impact.

Bang on the money. I must admit I'm really not sure how some of the guys behind this censorship sleep at night tbh.

OP, your signature is extremely ****ing annoying. Please make it less retarded.

A tin foil hat just 4 U!

Ron Paul ROX, but what you don't get is that people in one state don't fell the same in other states. This is why Paul does good n restricted areas. We are not brain clones, fool.

Correct conclusion!
However, I wasn't stating that it would work like this in every state from now on, so your point is...pointless?
I was just saying he went 2nd place.
And yes, get yourself some grammar.

so what if he won 2nd place? It just means he has more fans there. He's like a modern Jackson. He has his support in the lesser known areas.

For the love of god, if you're going to make a statement like that you better make sure the preceding sentences are grammatically correct.

Also, the Ron Paul conspiracy bullshit is getting old. Go take it to Kathaksung. Maybe he'll care about it.

They let Paul be in second place in Nevada. It's only a gimmick. The election is a manipulated one. Ron Paul is an unfavorable of the Inside Group. His loss is designated by a rigging election though he should have won the election if there was an honest voting system.

The Nevada case is a trick to cheat people.

1. A small state won't affect the general election. So they award you a second place to show it's "democratic". A second place means nothing in campaign.

2. It's a tactic to lure more money from people of grievance(to urge Paul's supporters continue to donate more money. That money finally will go to media's wallet.) to support its propaganda machine. After all, you won't win. So why not squeeze more money from you by increasing your confidence a little bit.

3. To show people that the election is fair. He is an unfavorable, he was still in second place. That proves our system is fair. But the reality is, Paul may be the leading candidate in Iowa, New Hampshire and other states. They(Feds) moved his votes to his rival's.

No. It's because the South West likes Ron, and the North East doesn't. Kay?
