Okay, so, I purchased a new Linksys Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router. (Model No. WRV54G)

The issue i'm having is that at random times, my internet conection will stop. When I check my router, all of the green lights are off and an oranage light is flashing where the "internet" light is. I dont think I've ever had this problem before, but it seems to happen all the time randomly. If you guys can help, it would be greatly appreciated, also, please say if you need any more info.

Thanks,
Estrides

Join the party, I have a Linksys WKPC54G package (WRK54G wireless router), and have the same problem. I have meaned to find out information on linksys website, but I couldn't be arsed.

Although it does happen randomly sometimes, try experimenting with media.
Streaming windows media player videos seemed to be a major culprit to the majority of my woes.

In future, go for Netgear, I am a networking student at my local university and netgear seem to be popular with the technicians.

Well, at least it's not just me having the problem. Thanks for your reply by the way.

Anytime, btw I have notified Linksys through their tech support, I'm hoping I will get a reasonable reply

In response to the reply I gave you, I have just received this in my inbox:

Thank you for contacting Linksys? Technical Support. My name is Kathrine and I will be your technician for this issue.

We understand that you are having intermittent connection with the WRK54G. The firmware version of the router could be corrupted, and we suggest you to do a firmware upgrade.

Refer to this link in doing a firmware upgrade: http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4030&p_created=1160108009&p_sid=YcnEaasi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=4290&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MjA2JnBfcHJvZHM9MCZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2NmX2xhbmc9MSZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PWZpcm13YXJlIHVwZ3JhZGU*&p_li=&p_topview=1

After the firmware upgrade, please reconfigure the router. Since your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a Cable connection, please go tot his link and follow the steps in reconfiguring the router: http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=199&p_created=1084206387&p_sid=L2UzeEoi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MiZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1jb21jYXN0&p_li=&p_topview=1

Please send your feedback on the troubleshooting steps provided, and how they worked for you. If for some reason the provided solution did not resolve your issue, we would like to get the following information the next time you reply to this email:

• If there is an error message while doing the firmware upgrade
• The model and version number of the modem
• The IP Address of the modem

My Linksys had a habit of randomly dropping DNS for certain domains. So I dropped it and got a Netgear instead :)
