Rumor - Casting calls for Portal 2 - Possible spoilers

Kotaku supposedly got their hands on a private-ish casting call for Portal 2 that was put up at the industry-only site, Breakdown Express. The casting call, which can be found to linked below in thumbnail form, calls for an actor to play "Cave Johnson" in Portal 2. Cave is a man in his early 60s, is the founder and CEO of a "successful applied science company, a self-made billionaire who's learned to trust his gut and doesn't sweat the details, [and] is a big picture thinker."

The casting call continues on to describe Cave.

He might not know how science works, but he knows how people work. used to getting what he wants. Extroverted, enthusiastic and opinionated. High energy: life is an adventure he's happy to be on. A born salesman, a leader, an evangelist. People trust him, even when his plans are clearly dangerous.

The call continues on saying that the character goes from sidekick to "principle antagonist" (emphasis is mine). As time progresses, Cave starts to "lose his grip on his humanity" and proceeds to "isolate himself from the people around him [and] he loses touch with reality."

If this is at all true, this is the very first morsel of Portal 2 news that is known publicly. All images and information come courtesy from Kotaku.

In Portal you can see his photo (face is covered by WCC) and his hands are white. And I guess he will be very pale due to the mercury poisoning.

I think it's fake too. Portal has been out for less than a year; I really doubt that they're already at the point where they can start looking for voice actors.

And even if they were, I don't think they'd openly post something like that.

I don't think the timeframe is particularly surprising. Valve could have started work on it before the released Portal, for all we know. I think it's doubtful simply because it's not very Valvish. If they wanted us to know, they'd have told us. If they didn't want us to know, they'd have kept secret about it.

If it were true, it's an incredibly Apple thing to do.

And Shell is not Eli's wife. Shell has a last name. Johnson. Not VANCE. (obviously you aren't reading anyones posts but your own)
SO Shell didn't die in the RC because SHE WASN'T there. More likely shes somebody daughter left in stasis by GlaDos. "You're not a scientist." Also she has the last name of the guy who's left all the writings on the wall if my memory serves me well. Making me believe she's either his daughter or his wife.

AND if the G-Man was on the Borealis why would he goad Eli into telling us to destroy it? So he can die?

Everyones theory about GlaDos is biased off things we've observed in game while yours is, well... another G-Man theory.

Plus, wasn't CJ's full name Carl Johnson? There's only two letters' difference between them.


And no, Chell's full name isn't mentioned anywhere. The only character names in the credits are Chell, GLaDOS, the Turrets and THE ANGER SPHERE.
