I'm a little peeved they fixed this, to be quite honest. And to call it an "exploit" too. Isn't an exploit something you can manipulate to use to your own advantage? I don't see how jumping after tapping the taunt key is an exploit. It's a shame they fixed this minor glitch in one update, but took 2 patch attempts to fix the terrain exploits.
I thought it was hilarious. Running around jump/taunting with the scout pistol taunt was entertaining. For all. (For visual, see 0:52 in video linked below) I never found much use for the taunt key except for jump/taunting and taunting after a stalemate, or during setup rounds (Usually as offense, when locked in your spawn).
Again, I hardly use the -real- taunt. At the risk of stating the obvious, you're defenseless. I tend to not actually taunt, because I wind up getting batted by a passing scout. Once more, I usually don't taunt unless its in one of the aforementioned cases. It just feels stiff and unfunny.
I thought the running taunts were all around OK. There were no advantages to anyone (Aside from a distraction, but seriously..)
If I'm not mistaken, TF2 is not meant to be a serious game. Seeing an engineer getting jiggy with it while running around was very funny, which is what the style of TF2 is supposed to exude, is it not?
Just so you can get a good idea as to why I thought the taunts were so hilarious, and why I like them so much, I have a video from when me and friends first discovered it. I think you'll get a good laugh from it.

So, am I out of line thinking this was funny or added to the comedy value of TF2?
Same comic value goes for the gun-switching taunts, where a heavy can spin his minigun around his fingers, or the demoman "drinks" a grenade from his grenade launcher.
