Maybe it is this which makes the Canadians so…retentive, or cowardly. So it is not exactly a huge surprise to have international skating experts from the four corners of the Earth criticising the decision to award the Men’s figure skating Gold medal to the US athlete Evan Lysacekv over the reigning Olympic Champion Evgeny Plushenko, whose superior performance was inexplicably ignored.

if WW3 starts over a flaming figure skating ritual then I might as well be Mother Teresa

We all know Canada has problems with the future lines drawn on Arctic maps and we all know Canada lives in the shadow of its larger neighbour to the south.

What?

United States is larger than Canada?

lawl. Geography fail.

Not necessarily larger by area, I'll assume. (reminds me of the Blue Whale vs. Sauropod)

Anyway, I read about this a few days ago. Basically, the Russian skater didn't do his routine in an order that would award the most points according to the scoring rules.

At least that's what my news source said.

also I'm pretty sure Russia pwns all with their largest landmass

Yeah seriously, what? The only way Canada could be living in the shadow of the US is if the sun rose from south to north instead of east to west.

ITT: Nobody understands metaphors

"Larger" could refer to several things, not just landmass. Like population.

Should have said something more fitting... like "More powerful". Probably obviously what they meant, but "larger" implies, to me anyway, size... from a geographical perspective.

**** dude... they're Russians. No room for metaphors.

I lolled @ article. It's on the internets, it must be true??

Ah, the male figure skating catfight hissy fit. No matter who wins, they're both skating around in sparkly sequins. Then you've got Johnny Weir who actually skates in a girly pink costume and everyone calls it "controversial."

Anyways, seriously, most of Plushenko's jumps were all weird and crooked, which was why he didn't get gold.

That's probably the most bad-ass figure skating outfit I've seen, Darkside.

Taken from a series of pictures from the Canada Russia game:
"Nightmare in Vancouver," The Red Machine Runs into a Maple Tree," "Down and Out," were just some of the headlines on Thursday morning, as reports came in that many Russian fans who had planned to stay at the Games until the February 28 closing ceremony were leaving the host city in disgust.
