God, I hate linking to Facebook, but in this case I have to: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Q&A with the Team #1. The four answers I found most interesting:

Q: Will there be more of a survival element to STALKER 2?
A:Yes.

Q:What features have been removed/compromised in the PC version due to the multiplatform release?
A:Since we develop primarily on PC, you won't see any compromises in the PC version. The key difference between the PC and console versions will be the beauty of graphics (meaning PC will offer more of visual effects).

Q:Which part of the zone will it take place? Or is it the zone at all?
A:We'll be locating the game in the triangle of CNPP, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2 (where the huge antenna is located).

Q:Is Zone going to be a large single ?
A:Let's postpone this question for now.

I would really like to move out of the zone at this point :\ Also, how about some actual characters this time.

Yeah. I was hoping there would be some excuse to move out of the actual Zone and have it spread or start having effects on the rest of the world.

You guys realize that Chernobyl is surrounded by frozen wilderness, right? What could you possibly do outside the zone?

The effects of the zone could spread (like they mentioned a billion times in the game) to surrounding areas. Maybe we could move away from Russia all together; Perhaps effects of the zone could pop up in clusters around the world. People would be forced to leave cities, and new phenomenons would appear, causing research teams to explore. Seriously, a zone in North Korea would be awesome, it would be all empty and creepy, but they'd still have a small totalitarian military hold out there. So many cool ideas they could work with that wouldn't involve me having a Russian accent stuck in my head for two weeks.

Oh no they postponed the answer to whether or not the zone is a large single or not!!

I don't know about you guys but large singles get my jollies off like no other.

I like that they actually answered some questions. ****ers don't like doing that these days.

No S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game has ever been set in Russia.

This had better be true.

What I think would be a good idea would be to leave the Chernobyl stuff behind after S.T.A.L.E.R. too and reboot the series with a new story such as having a new story closer to that of Roadside Picnic and have alien artefacts creating multiple zones. That way you can have new areas and can expand into different zones in sequels and expansions.

True it's not set in Russia, but it might as well be, it would be nice to be somewhere with different terrain and accents for a change.

I don't want to go outside the Zone. I want my Chernobyl. There's no reason to go anywhere else.

I disagree Ace. The Zone was certainly fun, but after three games I think a change of setting is in order. I actually really liked the idea of North Korea that ZT brought up.

After CoP made me fall in love with STALKER all over again I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Friggin ukraine or whatever, you are all the same to me with your CAMENYEAAAA, and your URUSIO BROW, URUSIO BROW.

Typical ignorant American. /Russian accent

Ugh the dots again, probably the most contrived acronym ive seen

seriously, why did they bother?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. stands for "Scavenger, Trespasser, Adventurer, Loner, Killer, Explorer, Robber".

Stinky Talking Asshole Likely Knowing Every Road.

why you want to be out of chernobyl?

thats part of the stalker games, otherwise the game would be "fallout clone/generic post apocalitic game#23"

the atmosphere is of being in a place thats apart from the rest of the world, whit theyr monster and secrets and inside conflicts that are handed from the outside while the ones in there are the one doing the worst part, combined whit the history of chernobyl add a lot of character to the game and if you removed it would feel like some try to make another fallout game or something like that aimed to gather that market

like saying that in hl3 gordon should be in iraq fighting whit usa marines cuz most fps are like that

so I know it may feel repetitive but chernobyl and the whole surroundings and all was like the main character of the first game and taking it out just wouldnt make it feel the same

I think the russian/eastern european accent on everything makes it that much better. I just couldnt imagine stalker in Paris or LA. it has a distinctive eastern european feeling that would be sorely missed if it were taken out of it's original context. it would just be another shooter

Tagaziel gets mad about blatant joke, life goes on.

well is not fault of poland for having such shitty nuclear reactors

I disagree. I don't think the historical weight of the area is the only thing that gives S.T.A.L.K.E.R. its atmosphere (though it does help). The game is well designed. The environments character design and gameplay itself lead into it. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. outside of Chernobyl would not make it Fallout.

Fallout shows life going on with people trying to rebuild civilization on scattered resources and robots and shit. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. shows a truly dead area. There are no real towns and everyone is a scavenger and/or soldier. The landscape itself tries to kill you and there are constant storms (and blowouts). Saying that taking it out of Chernobyl would kill the atmosphere is doing a huge disservice to the creators who did a great job of making a convincing world.

well they are constant storms and such due to the chernobyl incidents,is more original tham "nuclear war made this world" and it gives it a more realistic setting than fallout, imaginate if suddenly you find some hulking green mutant thing in stalker telling how he wil eat you and attacking you whit a hammer,it wouldnt be the same feeling or atmosphere or whatever

like in call of prypiat where you are a agent send there by the goverment and must rescue the other soldiers and fullfill your objective and experience the entrance to the place, see the scavengers trading for the artifacts they find and selling them to the outside

and hearing other characters talk about theyr experience in the zone, the rumors of places in the zone, what they did before getting into the zone and how they get into the zone, eliminating that it would be just about a storyline of saving whats left of the world while wearing some shoulder pads and carrying some weapon crafted from the pieces of old weapons and a bathub and would end up more madmax like, which stalker is not since technically is not apost apocalitic world,is the normal world where this place is like this and everyone wants a piece of the pie

and is inside this zone where all this happens and have its mysteries and on

and I think thats makes it more original and unique unless you want these games turn into the next ww2 whit tons of similiar games whit similiar premise of "ina wuorld after a nuclear meldouwnng the survayvors of the hiuman raceeee...." that will get boring pretty fast

I wasn't suggesting a post-apocalyptic world though. I was just suggesting a different Zone caused by something else. I mentioned Roadside Picnic, which is what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is loosely based off, where there are a couple of Zones throughout the world caused by alien artefacts falling from a spaceship as it passes over Earth. Or they could just have a new Zone created somewhere else by similar causes in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe. Same basic idea, just somewhere else.

I'd like that. Sort of a spin-off. Call it a reboot/non-reboot, or a new take on the Stalker universe. New possibilities to show what Zones really are. Fascinating.

THIS THING I MADE LOOK AT IT said:
<Spoilery SHOC ending thing> causes some sort of "pressure field" which catalyses other reactors across the globe into resonating with the Chernobyl Sarcophagus. Concrete barriers mysteriously rupture, storms begin to circle the reactors, and then a synchronous blowout occurs. The North American power grid overloads, and many transformers are damaged beyond repair. The US and Canada are plunged into darkness, and the radiation begins to spread.

Declaring a state of emergency, the US Government deploys platoons into major urban centres, but recent political turmoil has set many of its citizens on edge. Within weeks, most major cities have devolved into civil warfare, believing the occupation to be malevolent and oppressive. Some cities fall quickly, while others are blessed by a strong militia presence - but common to all is a high death toll on both sides.

Frustrated with the lack of progress overseas, military commanders order a sharp increase in the number and strength of investigative operations in the Ukraine. What is known to the American military is that the catalyst of these nuclear disasters likely originated at Chernobyl. Any further knowledge, however, is no better than anecdotal, largely consisting of translated folk tales from unknown sources. Unfortunately, the Ukrainian military quickly realises the increased American presence, and accordingly

This is when I got bored. I think it'd be neat!

A) The Zone wasn't created by nuclear reaction
B) That would basically wipe out France

A) No, hence the spoilery bit and mysterious evaporation of concrete.
B) I don't see your point.

Just that the US is not the only country that would be affected. France especially would be ****ed. Seems unfair to ignore the rest of the world :(

Will STALKER 2 have fully unlocked and fully realized A-Life and eco-system like the original was supposed to have?:D

Ah, true. Honestly I only picked the US because I live in North America. I think it'd be cool to see the Zone from any perspective. France would be interesting because of the dynamic that might emerge between the Zone and France's seemingly constant state of social upheaval.

Or Australia. Geet soma theem Wild Mutant Dingos.
