ok i just read this from the stalker website where they just put a new interview, and heres a tidbit of the interview

"Q: When playing the game in multiplayer cooperative mode, will it be possible to save the game? if yes, will the world status be saved, or just the players status?
A: As for cooperative, we are not sure whether we can implement that mode in the game."

now i personally find this the worst thing that could happen. It was the one thing that set this game apart. If they remove it i've just lost most of my anticipation for the game. How could they be considering cutting it, its the best thing they had going. Heres the link if u wanna check it out http://stalker-game.com/index.php?t=news&id=106&s=news&page=0

EDIT: heres another quote

"Q: Is Co-op multiplayer still being included the multiplayer options in Stalker as its the most eagerly anticipated multiplayer mode desired by the community?
A: Cooperative is in question, there are certain difficulties."

I know, ridiculous. Really, quite annoying. I remember when CS:CZ was going to have co-op, I was so pumped. After I heard Gearbox was trashed and they switched to Raven, and the game was to be without co-op, I lost interest.

I haven't played a good game of co-op since Secret of Mana on the Super Nintendo...

That sucks...

theres always mods. I think sven co-op is brilliant.

ya but mods wouldn't do as good of a job as if it were official and built into the game. Coop is a huge selling point. Without it, a lot of fans are going to be disappointed.

Forget about co-op! Forget about HL2! This game will be utterly brilliant.

don't forget about LAN centers...co-op is a major selling point for them.

hah, Secret of Mana had good co-op, but so did the likes of Perfect Dark, Timesplitters/2, etc..

heh...lots of games have had coop...even recent ones. serious sam 1&2 had it, and had it done well...and sven coop proves that it can be done even if it has to be a mod. i just don't understand why a company would ignore coop when they make a game? if the AI is good enough (or numerous enough) coop can be extremely fun. not everyone wants to play against others...and even people that love playing against others like to play coop for a change once in a while.

(btw...hasn't valve signed sven coop up to do an official mod for hl2?)

maybe if everybody e-mails them telling them how important they feel coop is in the game they might listen. I know its not much, but apparently, statistics show that for every 1 person that writes in, theres usually 5 or so more who r too lazy to write in but feel the same

by the way, this is the e-mail (i already sent them an e-mail)

This does suck.

There are lots of gamers out there wanting to play COOP. Sure Serious Sam was fun when it came out but there is a total void of COOP games in existance that are on the level of a game like STALKER or Half Life 2. The best COOP game I have ever played was System Shock 2 and that game is what 5 years old now? Imagine is Counter-Strike was the only team based MP game out for five years and everyone else was only putting out Deathmatch mods. Gamers would be waiting to pounce on the next great team based MP game. I feel it is the same with COOP. We are waiting and have been waiting for something like this for years.

It is unfortunate to hear this announcement about STALKER now.

I am curious why it would be hard to do... You obviously have multiplayer in the game. Take away friendly fire (or use it, hehe), but several peeps to spawn in the same place, have ai units on the battlefield and set them on a campaign style series of missions. Voila, coop. If its a good game engine, you should be able to SCRIPT coop without touching the code...

Yes, but in a thread where I could post a question for an interview (dunno which) I asked something about Sven, and one of the teammembers then replied with 'we haven't received help from Valve yet' so they didn't really started working on it.

OT: A shame if it isn't in there, it's always fun. But since STALKER isn't a blast-all-moving-things game and has a lot of RPG elements, I can see how it could pose a problem in developing the game. I'll understand if it isn't in there.

They haven't officially signed them, but they will probably be given access to the Source engine first.

stalker with coop would be neat...ive never seen a game with coop as an official part of it...its always modded
