"Saddam — holding a copy of the Quran he brought with him into the session and held throughout — replied quietly, "I said what I said. I am not guilty," referring to his arguments earlier in the session.

Amin read out the plea, "Innocent."

The confrontation then became physical. When a break was called, Saddam stood, smiling, and asked to step out of the room. When two guards tried to grab his arms to escort him out, he angrily shook them off.

They tried to grab him again, and Saddam struggled to free himself. Saddam and the guards shoved each other and yelled for about a minute.

It ended with Saddam getting his way, and he was allowed to walk independently, with the two guards behind him, out of the room for the break.

bet it looked a bit like this

Ha ha! Saddam Insane. My friends and I made a boxer named that in Fight Night.

Anyway, its funny hearing about him now that hes no longer a dictator. I seriously believe if he wasn't so powerful he could have been a very decent man. The conversations hes had with a few American guards certainly make him seem a lot nicer than I think anyone could have believed. Its just too bad he thought and still thinks he was right in commiting genocide and torture.

I think the saying 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely' is appropriate here.

People who've had the opportunity to talk to dictators often speak of them with high regard and what people fail to remember I think is that the dictators don't actually carry out the atrocities themselves, rather then get someone else to do the dirty business for them.

It's like pornos. We have the power to see them and the power to choose not to see them, But we are all curropted by the power we have and watch them anyway.
