Safe Mode

I cant seem to get into Safe mode because i wanna uninstall my old grapics card drivers(my first time). I keep tapping f8 but no work.

btw - does it really matter if u dont unistall old drivers?

Just uninstall them in normal windows mode or using DriverCleaner. Thats what I do, and I never have any problems with it.

go to start > run and type in msconfig. Select boot.ini tab and check the /safeboot and then restart your comp.

driver cleaner should work

I would be extremely careful with that program..very heavy duty. It can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing. Stick to the Add/Remove programs to uninstall the drivers before you use that program. That should be a last resort.

No, it should be a standard thing. You use add/uninstall first to remove the drivers, then you use Driver Cleaner to COMPLETELY erase the driver from your pc, so you get a 100% clean install.

It also could uninstall stuff that could get the PC to screw up. That's what happened to me when I used it .

Did you uninstall the wrong drivers? Perhaps you uninstalled the nvidia Mobo drivers when you were trying to uninstall the nvidia vid card drivers.

I did that once too, 'cept it happened while doind a manuall cleanout of my drivers.

To be fair, I shouldn't really be recommending people to use driver cleaner as I have no idea what there level of understanding is when it comes to key system drivers. I do agree with dream431 on this, it could cause some real damage if you don't know what you are doing.

You are wrong my friend. The second you delete any motherboard driver files, you're going to be either reformatting on your next boot up or spending a good 5 hours in the xp recovery console. XP can't boot up without those files. I know, because i've done it.
