Shop around, I doubt you can beat that deal. It may be the lowest it's ever been:

Just giving you guys a heads up. I went ahead and ordered two of them.

A review: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/storage/2009/10/06/samsung-spinpoint-f3-1tb-review/10

There’s only one way to say it – the Samsung Spinpoint F3 is the fastest hard disk drive we’ve ever had the pleasure of testing here at bit-tech, having ripped through our benchmarks like a butchers knife through wet loo roll.

Theoretical performance in HD-Tach is a sign of things to come, with a superb burst speed of 258.9MB/sec, Average read speed of 124.8MB/sec and average write speed of a titanic 96.7MB/sec! All three of these are bit-tech records for a hard disc drive, and perhaps most excitingly, are only the average performance across the drive; when accessing data stored towards the outside edge of the drive platters speeds are much higher, with write speeds peaking at over 120MB/s!

These awesome theoretical speeds translate directly into both our MP3 and ISO file patterns in FC-Test. With the MP3 test in particular the F3 is an absolute monster, writing the 1GB file pattern in less than 11 seconds, copying on the drive in an incredible 5.49 seconds and reading the file in an awesome 4 seconds flat!
Once again Samsung has produced a simply superb hard disk drive, delivering fantastic sequential and real world performance and, to the undoubted chagrin of the completion, has done so for a bargain price.

As far as reliability, they should be trustworthy. I've had 3 of the Samsung F1s running for about a year or two, continuously.

Thanks for the heads up, I need one for work but I would have to have them buy it. Hopefully this deal is still around tomorrow.

Shellshockers only last a few hours and they often sell out well before then. Sorry.

I just happened to be waiting for a sale on either this drive or the [much slower but larger] Samsung 2TB drive. I've been checking daily for a sale on either, that's how I caught it.

Got my two new F3 drives - I'm transferring data to them right now. Very happy with them. I was going to buy 3 but my check hadn't come yet.

It's back on sale - $59.99.

These drives are ****ing fast as hell when it comes to mechanical drives (of any type) - and for this amount of storage space, and at this price? This price is easily aggressive enough to put them in a top position in the HDD market against the likes of legends like WD and Seagate. I for one, welcome our new HDD overlords.

Let's face it. Almost nobody can use over 2TB because it's just not compatible with most systems.* And the 2TB drives just aren't polished enough yet. Too many reliability issues and they just aren't very fast for anything but media and storage.

*Windows 2000/XP, and most external enclosures can't use greater than 2TB

Shame they don't ship to Europe, that price is damn sweet.

Meh, I'll wait for even faster HDD's or for SSD's to become a good option.

I wouldn't mind if they could keep this level of performance in a 2TB form.

It would be ideal if 5 or 6 of my drive bays had 2TB drives as fast as this. 12TB system, bitches. DO want. I will download every ****ing thing on the internet. :D Or, put a SS HDD in one of the slots for the boot drive.

I checked the costs for around here.

About $110. Ah well, I suppose Samsung can't afford to lose its place in the global market.
