I'm considering purchasing it in the not-to-distant future. I'm moving into a new place, and I dont feel like buying a tv so I want to get a monitor that I can use for both computer use, and tv use. I also want dual monitors because the work I do requires me to have windows open everywhere and it gets way too clustered... so if I go with a single monitor thats got 2560 pixels in width, thats more than two monitors already so I wont need two.

Thoughts? Are there better values for this size and resolution?

I would think that having two separate monitors would make it easier to manage your windows. I've got a 2x22" setup that I love. Plus, if you game at all .. .well... you get the idea.

Personally I think it's overkill, especially for the prices. I'm assuming you have something under 22"? Or you're just hard to please :smoking:
Though I do understand the want for one.

My 40" tv is too big to really use properly as a monitor. Do ya think 30 would be as well?
IMO 24 is the perfect monitor size for big screens on a desk.

22" or 24" anything bigger for a monitor would be a waste of money / too big to appreciate. I thought those massive monitors were only meant for professional artists and such?

Yeah... I just moved from 2x19" (4:3) to 2x22" (16:10), and it took some getting used to having all that screen space. 3 weeks later, I still don't think I'm really using all of it. I do web application development, btw.

For that money I'll take 4 22" monitors. Not only will it be bigger but it will give you a waaaay better workspace.

Holy hell. Have you got the hardware to be able to run effectively at that resolution?

Well for one, I am a professional artist har har!

And for two, I want to use this as a TV as well (as in, will be sitting on a couch further away).

But yeah, I wasnt really thinking straight last night haha. **** that, 1,400 bucks?! *slaps self*

I guess it really depends on how far away I will be while watching tv on it. I have a 19 inch monitory now, and i'm trying to imagine what a 24" would be like. 24 may be a decent compromise. For 800 bucks I could get 2 good 24 inch monitors, which will be enough space for my windows I think (I usually juggle with like 3 or four applications at the same time, and like 6-10 other windows open, so I need a lot of real estate, especially since i'll be watching tv at the same time lol). I would really only be shelling out 200 bucks of my own money, since I'll sell my current monitor (probably get like 120 bucks for it), and I got a 500 dollar graduation gift from my parents (5 months after I graduated). I've got a well-paying job now so 200 bucks wont be too much of a hit really.

Also a 1920x1200 resolution should be a lot nicer to my 4850 when gaming haha.

(lol more parentheses)

That screen is just too expensive, even if it brings the coffee, the newspaper, turns on the TV and rubs your shoulders.

I just bought a BenQ V2400W 24" for around $430, and this monitor is beautiful despite being a TN panel. Considering you're an artist though, you may want to look at a higher end VA or even IPS panel. A great compromise for both gaming and color reproduction would be the BenQ FP241VW (8-bit MVA panel with a plethora of inputs). The only downside is the wide, inarticulate stand.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy a 1080p HDTV and connect that to your PC?

if you buy that monitor im stealing it...so just buy a couple 24 inchers
