Samurize and halflife2.net news

I use Samurize to customize my desktop and want to put the news from halflife2.net on a scroller. Has anyone here done this yet? :bounce:

I think the "scroller" thing you are refering to is using "RSS" yeah ?, if so I think we have one, dont know for sure tho!

The RSS feed that we have at the moment is more than a bit dodgy. I'd advise waiting a bit until we get the proper one sorted.

I await the RSS feed with anticipation ... it'll be nice to see HL2 RELEASED flashing on my desktop

Since this thread it actually being viewed by the staff - any news on the countdown timer??
Also, since almost everyone here is UK, what % of the staff and members d'ya think are UK residents? From experience I'd say 75-25 staff, 20-70-10 members (10% other) ... just intrigued ...

The one Chris D posted up there ^ should work fine now - the only bug it had was the 'link' tag went to the latest post in the news thread instead of the first post. I fixed that a couple of days ago, so the feed should be fine for most rss readers now.

I could write a custom XML output, but I can't see what we need that the vbulletin standard one doesn't already do. I do plan to write some better RSS feeds (with news filters etc..) in the future, but the current one is adequate for now
