This is the game forum, but just in case you don't know - Samus is the player's character in the classic, and best selling game series 'Metroid'.

Imagine Samus needs a new look, and we are in charge (because we are. We have the money and the influence and ideas).

I think she would look bad ass in something like a mix between her current suit and something along the lines of the Dark Brotherhood outfit from Oblivion. Like half metal alloys, half skin-suit, in semi-gloss black and flat shades of grey.

Do you think a black suit would be better looking? I understand it's like mario wearing black... ooooo that sounds cool. Er so like Nintendo wouldn't do it for good.

So then what about a cosmetic change? It could change gradually over the years. Maybe it has and I haven't been paying enough attention.

Another idea I had was a stealth/stalker/sneak suit enhancement that when you activate it, the suit changes to black, slowly clouding with black color almost like blood in water, how it bellows out.

I mean Samus suit is from the 80's man. Wow flashback. She was wearing that shit on the 8-Bit Nintendo Entertainment System.

Before Samus 'Night Cloud' suit:

After Samus Night Cloud suit:
The middle section of Samus suit in the image link below looks pretty cool. That could be the new texture. The general shape of the current suit needs to be sharpened up with sharper angles sort of like what the image below shows in the middle section. Her current suit has too much rounding IMO. (well.. some round stuff in the skin tight one would be OK.)

I didn't draw the picture, I was just looking for something darker as an example of the direction they should take the game in the next Metroid game.

For example, did you see the new Spiderman 3? Well, I haven't, but I've seen the advertisements and the Black Spiderman looks like this:

Something along those lines would be cool. if you zoom in, you can see texture on the fabric, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately the Wii doesn't have high resolution graphics to showcase high resolution textures, but .. I don't know. WiiToo?

:afro:

Anyway, what kind of ideas do you have for Samus, her suit, her abilities, or the game series?

Samus' suit has changed over the years and it is one of Nintendo's best-looking characters from a costume point of view. in the original game it looked like a bright yellow Master Chief. Now in the Prime series it is a streamlined bronze art-deco like suit.

Her suit does change colour and design in various situations for example: the Fusion Suit in Fusion and unlockable in Prime and obviously the regular upgrades like the Varia Suit.

Samus had a suit in Zero Mission called the Zero Suit, which was a skin tight blue stealth suit with a gun/energy-whip (a costume for Samus in SSBB)
This sounds similar to your ideas for a new suit although I will be the first to admit that a bright blue suit isn't the stealthiest idea in the world (ZM was the most cartoony entry into the series)

I hope this provided you with something interesting...

They should replace one of her legs with a machine gun.

A cross between HEV, Mjolnir and Samus' current suit. Teh ultimate suit lol.

I keep laughing about the machine gun leg.

I think in pictures.

they should replace her boobs with even larger ones.

And make them bounce when she runs. For the realizim! That's the only reason, not because I'm a dirty bastard or anything!

boobs bounce in real life when girls run.

I saw it on TV.

Samus is a pussy. Whenever he gets scared he curls up into a ball and rolls around like an idiot.

Crotchless space thong with peephole energy bra.

The game needs 3 physics engines. One per boob and one for the game itself.

I think Haloid proved that LOL LESBIANS.

I liked the dance video at the end of that. That was funny. > >

I have been playing metroid for the gamecube recently and even if I am new to the serie I dont think a "darker" look is a good idea

FYI...Metroid Prime 3 got an official date...Aug. 30 2007. Just figured I'd drop that in here. Should be awesome.

That is awesome. Was a press release that listed the rest of their release dates for summer games as well.
5 screens at the bottom.

Would be nice if Nintendo followed in the path of Namco (Atari), Atari US, SEGA, and whoever else and have just made this for the PC. OMFG it would be epic. Ah, that's fine though, maybe next console they make, or when this one drops to $99 like the gamecube did, I'll give her a shot.

This is a FPS and it belongs on the PC. Deep in Samus heart, she knows it's true.

I'm not sure If I can tolerate the (movement) controls, but it might be worth it, just to play the game. At least aiming with the 'mote should be pretty fresh and fun once you get your aim down.

Would like to play for a while to get a feel for her. :naughty:

Imagine this game .. DX10, keyboard/mouse. I say no ****ing more.

Oh, and I noticed, it looks like she is wearing some sort of dark energy suit.

can i just flame metroid without needed reasons? pleeeaaase?

Nintendo and all of it's intellectual property are non-flammable. You can say whatever you want but I don't think it's possible to hurt it's reputation.

Oh, that's rich...the only time I've played Metroid on a PC is through an emulator. And I intend to keep it that way....

I assure you, it will be epic on the Wii.

I'd say the August date give me just enough time to replay MP1 and MP2...AWESOME!!!

No Metroid game released today could ever mean to me or hope to be what Metroid was for the NES. Hear me out.

I know we have been over this before.

But Metroid was about the Control. Like Super Mario Brothers, Nintendo's weird looking little gamepad gave you incredibly quick control over your characters movements never had before with conventional joysticks.

Metroid had amazing gameplay, strategy, and hidden secrets that changed everything. There was Nintendo Cereal, Nintendo magazines, and Nintendo everywhere. Video games were never the same. (Again)

It saddens me that nothing might ever do that again. Not for me probably. I'm too spoiled to really get far in a game like that anymore, where you actually have to be good and not just quick-save all the time.

I would be pleased just to find out that the control system and the game worked well enough to make the game worth playing to the end.

After you start getting good at the Wii controller and the game, can the first full motion sensing controller, the 'Wiimote', live up to the reputation of Nintendo NES, featuring the first gamepad ever made ?

I think there is a chance. And even if not, Samus is still going to kick some serious ****ing ass trying though.
