i think thats kindve neat when u control those antlions to fight for u...its very very easy to do....now pressing the alternate fire u can control them...now the main fire i think u throw it and the antlions eat somthin....all i basically do is control them and they follow me wherever i go...im supposed to do that right?....helps me a lot....very interesting things they have done with the game....oh i forgot the device used to control em....

The Antlion sections are great in fact I'd say I enjoyed fighting alongside the antlions more than I did with the citizens - you don't get all that attached to the antlions (they've been pissing you off for several maps and the tables have suddenly turned and you're sending them to their deaths) whereas you want to keep your fellow humans alive that much more... the problem is - whilst the antlions are dumb - due to a few of their more useful abilities (flying, one-swipe combine kills) they come across as more useful and more intelligent than the resistance fighters. Hence, antlions are seemingly the best Allies i've seen in any game. No game has yet given us allies which we can care about and can look after themselves, so the Antlions, whilst reasonably competant, are totally disposable and therefore make their scenes lots of fun.

I like how it's almost a kind of satire on the FPS genre in the time in which HL has been away. Every game since Medal of Honour has had some kind of beach assault mission, but only Half-Life 2 has you commanding space-bugs whilst dodging a hail of plasma. Not my favorite chapter sure, but I suspect that it's been underrated somewhat.

No, it's such common misspelling of a word of which culture I belong to that I find a tad bit offensive.

If you're going to say it, get it right. If you don't know what you're saying, don't say it is all i'm saying.



Anyway, I found the antlion part fun because I enjoy watching mass amounts of antlions being chopped to bits by defensive weaponry. Which is why antlion troopers (deuce in particular) appeals so much to me. Setting up the turrets so that they all attack the same spot, and watching hordes of antlions get shot so much that it gives off the shotgun gibs is so entertaining to watch.

It is just a word, and it does sound like "chow", you know what they're saying, so don't make a big deal. I don't feel offended when people spell something wrong in english.

Then again, this is an antlion thread. So er, yeah, antlions are cool.

Engrish has to be one of the best things to ever happen to mankind, I see what you're getting at.

I guess i'm a little touchy about my background, as I see others. Call a Japenese man a Jap (somebody you don't know) and you'll see what I mean.

I most certainly do.

Antlions were a really nice addition to the game.

If you were to do it to say, a tourist (god I hate them. They're stupid posers. But it's for the economy) a Jap, they probably wouldn't even know wtf you were saying, that is, if they noticed you at all.

You control them for Half of "Sandtraps" and just over half of "Nova Prospekt"
