The internet activist group 'anonymous', famed for its exposure of unethical behavior by the Scientology cult, has now gone after the Alaskan governor and republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

At around midnight last night the group gained access to governor Palin's email account ... and handed over the contents to the government sunshine site Wikileaks.org.

Governor Palin has come under media criticism in the past week for using pseudo-private email accounts to avoid Alaskan freedom of information laws.

The zip archive made available by Wikileaks contains screen shots of Palin's inbox, two example emails, governor Palin's address box and a couple of family photos. While the emails released so far reveal little, the list of correspondence appears to re-enforce the criticism that Palin is mixing governmental and personal affairs.

Hell yeah! If the bitch wont cooperate with investigations at least the internet is doing it's part.

You know, I didn't really realize what Anonymous was capable of...

Her password wasn't sarahp by chance?

or gaben?

or gaben?
Lol.

She is probably just ****ing stupid. Here is what I think happened. One of the screen shots shows an email from yahoo that her password was reset. So clearly the hackers got in by resetting a password. From my understanding all you need to do to reset a password with yahoo is provide your date of birth (which obviously everyone in this world knows) and answer a personal question the user set. She probably made the personal question extremely easy, like "what color is the sky". And the so called "hackers" were able to get in.

We are talking about a person that is the vice presidential nominee of a major political party for the most powerful nation on the planet, and she doesn't know how to securely send email? She doesn't belong anywhere near the white house if she is that dumb, the Obama campaign should be all over this fact.

next thing ya know the US will be declaring war against cyber terrorism, say good-bye everyone ...to the internet.

This, seriously. If they get elected, this whole email trick won't seem like such an awesome idea ;)

Her password was peanuts or something trivial like that. It was on reddit.

the feds will come down hard on whomever hacked her account as will yahoo ..good for lols but he's in way over his head

Dang it, I saw this just right now on the news and I was going to post about it. I was laughing when I saw it. They even showed 4chan

They screwed up and in one of the screenshots they showed which proxy they were using. This could really **** who ever did this over but if it costs McCain the election the guy will be a hero.

a hero serving a 20 year sentence  ..forgotten 2 weeks after sentencing

this wont affect me election ..there's nothing in there that's all that shocking ..besides the fact that she seems very dumb ..the type that blinks rapidly when confronted with a tough question, what is it with the republicans and dumb candidates?

Nah, I'm sure there will be many people willing to donate funds to provide the best legal team around. I don't even think what he did should be considered illegal. If you make your password that easy to reset you're an idiot, people that exploit that shouldn't be punished. He might get some time, but 20 years? I doubt it.

I wouldn't be so sure. She already said that she does not use this Yahoo account for official business, doing so would have been illegal. If this proves other wise this will be the first time that I know of that someone found to have done something illegal is on a major political ticket. She is running on a open government ticket, this would kill that entire message and she would have nothing left. Not to mention that there are over 1,700 emails to go through, something juicy is bound to pop up. We are talking about a religious extremist here. I personally can't wait until everything is released.

I know Anon is stupid sometimes, but damn.. some of them are pretty leet.

Okay, I hate Sarah Palin, and I could care less that her email account was hacked, but that statement right there is very dumb and has more holes than swiss cheese.

You might as well be saying this about a burglary-
" I don't even think what he did should be considered illegal. If you don't have a strong bolt on your back door that is easy to break into, you're an idiot, people that exploit that shouldn't be punished."

Rightttt

Whatever you said below that, I didn't read it. Because my eyes were burning.

</drama>

Why? Do you like Sarah Palin or something?

Because I don't have sympathy for her email being hacked?

But we are not talking about breaking in to a house, we are talking about looking at someone's email.

Is digging through someone's trash left out on the steet before pick up illegal? I would consider this to be on the same level.

So you call out ZT on a bad analogy, and then you compare private emails to trash? lol

In some states/cities it is illegal to go through someone's trash.

ZT is right, how easy it is to break the law or violate someone's privacy or property has nothing to do with whether it should be done or not.

I was never good with analogies but you don't think this is a valid point? She left her emails left out in the open for anyone to see. If I leave my personal information out in the street I shouldn't be calling for criminal charges if someone looks at it.

Out in the open for anyone to see? What in the shit are you talking about? They were in a password protected email account, JUST like anybody else. A good hacker can get into ANY basic email account like Yahoo if he really wanted to. Your point is nil, you don't have anything to back up what you're saying that isn't a ridiculously stretched analogy.

But she didn't just leave it on the street. You may remember the whole "hacking" part of the ordeal.

Having "peanuts" for a password is harder to crack into than, say, walking up to someone's street mailbox and taking what is inside. Either way, it's an invasion of privacy.

Screw your caring science charts. You get what I am saying.

It's ironic, in a sense you are supporting the exact same thing that Bush was for, and I'm sure Palin and McCain are for as well.
Digging through people's emails, phone tapping, etc...

All invasive of privacy, but as soon as it happens to someone you don't like, it should be considered okay? That defeats the purpose if you are being just as invasive and violating as the people you are fighting against for being invasive and violating.

But like I said, I really don't care that this happened to her, and I hope for the sake of all of us, this ends up being beneficial.
