I was putting together a rig and I noticed that the motherboard I bought has both sata II ports and sata ports. Now the Hdd i'm using for this rig is a 34 gig raptor, and i'm not too sure what to do. I don't know if I should use the sata ports or the sata II ports. The sata II connectors look extremely different, but upon closer inspection, it looks as if it MIGHT fit over the standard sata jack on the hdd. I don't know if sticking an sata hdd in an sata II port would just cause it to fall back to sata or what. If I can't get an answer soon, I think i'll just use the sata port for safety.

Use the regular Sata I ports - that Raptor is from the Sata I generation (I have two 74G in RAID 0). I don't know if it would work on the Sata II ports or not, but I do know you will see no performance increase if it does work, because your drive is a Sata I drive.

Ah, so it would just fall back to sata if it were to connect properly to the sata II ports, therefore I may as well just connect it to the sata port?

Thanks!
