satellite control room, option to call for help

in the satellite control room, you can choose to transmit or cancel the signal to earth, should i follow the order of the commander or listen to that four eyes fat guy ? does the option affect the storyline ?

It gets sent either way (if you don't send it, the Sarge comes on the screen and tells you that he's sending it anyway) so it doesn't affect the storyline much.

Sarge doesent send it the wigged out scientist guy does.

It would have been really cool if it had effected the story drastically, and i played through a second time to check, but couldn't see all that many differences :\
