Save The Doom Movie!

From what I hear, the Doom movie isn't going to turn out to be very good. I would gladly sign the petition, if it only would actually do anything.
Signing online petitions don't do anything. I'll sign it anyways.

Thank you for signing.

This is an excert taken from the sight:

Unfortunately, the movie is already in production and none of this can be readily changed. This petition is here instead to make a point to Hollywood and all other movie producers: The Gaming Community is sick of seeing great and popular games being rubbished on the big screen and we will no longer tolerate or pay to see these movies. We can no longer hide from facing unpopular issues in movies in fear of offending minority groups. A movie is supposed to be an outlet of creativity and public expressionism.
The people want to see the movies hold true to the game, follow the same storyline even. We want to see our games turned into movies, not see movies that are only remotely based on games. In theory, these movies are taking the name of a popular game in hopes of generating revenue surrounding the hype. In reality, all they are doing is destroying the credibility that these games had in regards to story and individuality.

I have a question:
By visiting the site, do you automatically sign the petition? I went to the bottom and it said I already signed the petition even though I don't remember signing any Doom movie related petition. In fact, I don't ever recall signing any petition at all.

yeah, I think its ridiculous that they changed the movie so much, I don't even understand it. Watch when it comes out, the producers will come out of some ****ing wall and yell "April Fools!" and it'll all be better.

Just make the petition to change the name ffs

I can only see ID at fault for whoring themselves without personally overseeing that it didn't go to hell (no pun intended)

that quote is so true in many ways.
i hope that if Valve give the go-ahead with a Half Life movie, they at least stay true to the original storyline...of course it becomes hard to do when Hollywood pple pressure about these things and dangle $$$ in front of the game devs. :(

Apparently VALVe take the idea of a HL movie very seriously. People have pitched the idea and even storylines to them before, and they've apparently been turned down (usually around the time the dude pitching it says that Gordon will fall in love with some female lead, going from a quote I read...).

And online petitions do work, sometimes. There's one with 27000 signatures, I believe, that got Fraggle Rock on DVD...

yeah i read that interview u are referring to as well...but weird things tend to happen if enough $$$ gets thrown a game dev's way... im not saying Valve does that...however one would think there is a price Gabe and company wouldn't refuse.. now whether they get that sum of money is a different story :)

u get my point :p

They arent going to change it just because several thosang fanbois petition to. Thoes petitions never work.

Well, I went to the website, but apparently "You have already signed this petition!"

Strange, I've never been on that site before, I could have sworn I didn't sign any petition either.

This is the reason Valve have never agreed to do a Half-Life movie even though it would be fairly popular. The concept for the Doom movie gets me angry, I don't often get angry but it shits me to know they have completely changed the theme. Doom is a movie I care for more than any other game to movie adaptation simply because I played it lots. It is very hurtful for me to hear this.

The sad fact is it will most likely take plenty of money, and there will be no stopping writers from completely altering future game-based movies even more to make them more tasteful or some crap.

It really shits me.

Signed.

Not to make difference as so much to make a statement.

wow... a game turned into a film... we all know those turn out the be brilliant dont we....

Online petitions are just like real petitions. Nobody gives a rat's ass about them.

hopefully its a decent movie (although the rights for Doom were bought a long time ago, i think quake might have also been bought).

HL would be a cool movie if done right but yeah, they would prob mess it up in some horendous way...

Sadly that's true.

Besides, isn't it a little late to try and have things changed? I though it was supposed to be coming out this year?

petitions work sometimes. Pretender had its ending in TV movies thanks to tons of them.

meh let em ruin it, when it makes no profit studio's might finally realise and stop making third rate movies based on games. The last thing you want is this to be popular or you can expect a similar HL movie, thrown together with clips from other films like that naff "horror" I saw the other day on sci-fi that had clips from The Thing added to it.

That's impossible. They're all too stubborn and arrogant :(

Imagine how different things would be if the bottom suddenly fell out of Hollywood.

Instead of the opposite, which is pretty much the usual these days, eh TDE?
