Scaling models/props

I am going out of my mind here. I am sure it is so simple but I can't scale any models (whether they are prop_static or whatever type). I have checked out all their properties and when I try to use Transform, scaling it seems to just move it on that axis and doesn't resize it at all :S

Am I just missing the obvious or can you not scale them?

you can't scale them unless you edit the source model...
