I'm trying to do a tutorial, and theres this part where it says to scale in local mode. I can't find an option like that anywhere. Can anyone help me out?

Ermm...possibly that "s" button on the right of the screen.

S = Scale

to scale in XSI hit X as in it eXponentially increases size, to set it to local scale there is the nice little little set of buttons at the bottom of the transform one of them is for local. You can also use alt-8 and if you want to do a universal scale on all axis you can hold down shift, or click the uni button, or simply hold down all three mouse buttons at once.

And yes hitting the S in the transform panel will work as well, but learn to use X for scale, C for rotation, and V for moving objects, think of it as X increases the size out, C is like a rotation, and V is like an arrow. This is similar to Maya's QWERTY keys. Max on the other hand is obsessed with giving their users carpal tunnel syndrome so they don't give you any shortcuts unless you make them yourself.

Thanks for the help guys. One more question =)

Freezing a poly mesh. I've tried hitting freeze all transformations. Isn't working.

heh the freeze button is not for transformations it freezes the actions taken on it, I know a stupid way of doing it, but that's how they chose to name it. If you want to set the transforms hit the "center" button and manually enter the transform values to what you want. Alternately you can go to the menu at the top Transform>Freeze All Transforms, this will set it so that the current object will be reset to have the scale values at 1, and the other transforms at 0

Well I'm using a cube to cut a hole through another cube using a boolean difference. Then I want to rotate the cube makeing the hole 90 degrees and make another hole through the first cube. But when I try to rotate the first hole that I made moves with the second cube.

heh..here...im going by this tutorial.

ah then you do want to hit the freeze button down at the bottom right, that should freeze operations, but remember when you do a boolean operation it makes a new object so you have to be sure and freeze the boolean op generated object.
