New sci-fi scene with sort of an early 80's look:)

Again, made with Corel Painter Essentials 2 + Wacom Intuos 3 tablet

What do you guys think?

Very cool. Don't know that much about art, but I love the story you've got going. The mesh of machine and animal is very interesting. Critique: maybe a bit stronger shading on the out-of-whole area?

yea... I think so too, I'm not very happy with the lizard actually... Thanks for the critique!

yeah it definitely has some 80's thing going on to it. feels very retro and nice. the creature design is great, and i like the idea of robots riding them on the surface? is the roboty humanoid in the pit a fugitive human or something like that?

or are we getting a glimpse at a futuristic gladiator scene? :p

the shading shouldn't be stronger, it feels too strong as it is. reduce the blackt, the ambient lighting due to the sky should reach into the hole more.

there are perspective issues, some strokes feel very messy, the creature is nice but needs shading (light shading, blue-ish). always keep in mind what the light source is and the ambient color. robot riding the creature is very flat and needs more even lighting, only his back reflects some of the ambient light.

robot/cyborg/dude in armor in the pit needs highlights, everything needs more reflections in color and a more even color palette. metal in day light is almost never pure grey, add some blue/skycolor.

you're off to a good start, keep it up! :D

Hey thanks CrazyHarij, real nice tips! :) I see what you mean... I'll try to mess around with the shading, specially try the blue-ish uoy said.

Yes, that was the idea!

Thanks again.
