The human race will one day split into two separate species, an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a top scientist.

100,000 years into the future, sexual selection could mean that two distinct breeds of human will have developed.

The alarming prediction comes from evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry from the London School of Economics, who says that the human race will have reached its physical peak by the year 3000.

I think that guy read Time Machine one too many times. Although it kind of makes sense, beautiful people tend to be together, so if beauty is a genetic trait, it'll make part of their children and the same for future generations
 
It was on BBC news as well, but I imagine it's bullshit.
 
I think we'll all be yellow and there won't be any red-heads. Not so sure about the ugly and beautifuls races though
 
I for one think Gollum is cute.
 
Except through the miracle of eugenics we don't have to ever worry about the 'uglies' coming to be their own race.

Why would uglies evolve? Evolution always leads to favourable developments, it's the whole point.

Even if beauty was genetic, there is no way that someone could have 100% beauty genes, you don't know what your great, great, great, great, great grandfather liked, maybe he liked ugly fat people? You just managed to be good looking, but your kid will be ugly as shit? There will always be ugly in everyone..
 
Year 3000? This has already happened. My town is full of normal sexy people, but the town next to mine is full of little ugly inbred mutants.

It's so convenient to be able to picture a 'perfect race' that has all the best qualities we see in individuals today, and a 'castoff race' that retains only the most negative qualities.

I think it's not going to happen that way.

Especially considering most of the things people define as 'beautiful' these days are artificial add-ons, especially temporary ones like makeup. Remove all that from some of the people that are voted world's sexiest, and there are tons of people who change their mind about that person being beautiful.

Modify yourself all you want, but until you actually change your genes, it won't make your offspring look any better.

Agreed. Personally, I'd be surprised if humans don't go all WMD crazy and exterminate us all by the next turn of the century or so anyways. (Or sooner, given the rate things stand now)

Im not even going to bother reading the article, but I think uglies will for the most part disappear off the face of the planet b/c chicks dont do ugly guys. And guys dont do ugly chicks.

Well... Alligators have been around pretty much unchanged for a really long time, right?

I bet they achieved their beautiful perfection long ago... every one of them is a hunk or babe to other alligators and some very disturbed humans.

It's general bullshittery. The Daily Mail are notoriously anti-science, and tend to lean towards publishing things that make people go "Those "scientists" have got it all wrong!"

As far as women go, they need their ugly friends as cockblocks, so this scientist obviously doesn't know what he's on about
 
I think the only thing that can be true about that is that people will be taller cuz in the past times people were smaller
and also I remenber once I read something in a magazine that say that since the 50's kitchens stuff like refrigerators and such as been growing in size cuz the customers has been growing too

maybe the age limit may increase too cuz in very ancient time like the ice age the maximun life span was around 40's and whit the times passing and the more nutritive foods developed the life span got longer

if people got more betifull sure that will depend more on the standars of beauty of society rather than genes
cuz in the ancient times the perception of beauty have been changing

Well, there will be a limit on height. Look at the really tall people. Besides, some men like small women.

H. S. Cromagnon was something like 5'10" on average.
 
Under a capitalistic economic system I would bet that this scenario isnt that far fetched. Assuming money still rules the priorities of people thousands of years from now, I dont see how this wouldn't happen.

Its all about the role of money in the future.
