Among the new species of birds, frogs, butterflies and palms discovered in the expedition through this pristine environment, untouched by man, was the spectacular Berlepsch's six-wired bird of paradise. The scientists are the first outsiders to see it. They could only reach the remote mountainous area by helicopter, which they described it as akin to finding a "Garden of Eden".

In a jungle camp site, surrounded by giant flowers and unknown plants, the researchers watched rare bowerbirds perform elaborate courtship rituals. The surrounding forest was full of strange mammals, such as tree kangaroos and spiny anteaters, which appeared totally unafraid, suggesting no previous contact with humans.
I bet they find some pretty funny looking critters in them parts. Can't wait to see what they drag out.http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article343740.ece

Ach! We're doomed! Nature is pulling in her reserves against the forces of Mankind!

Wow, really cool. Dissapointed about that bird though. I first read that as "six winged" birds of paradise. :(

That's incredible. Just another great example of how much is out there that we don't know, and why we need to preserve these lands.

Tell that damn bird to stop giving me the evil eye!!

Time for a new set of different species to inhabit the earth... give it time and we'll be pets to a far more intelligent animal.

Hurrah! We have finally found the last stronghold of nature. Nuke it and we will be free!

Elephants! Elephants! Woot, <bows down to the Elephants>

All silliness aside, Elephants are the most awesome thing. I've said in the past that I like Elephants more than cows. Their intelligence is amazing, and rivals that of the great apes.

Please, please, please let the environment and things like this actually survive for another 200 years.

Great, now we'll get a load of red necks trying to hunt them down.
"uhuck i got me a tree roo!"

Or some scientist will try and save the creatures and end up giving them disease.

haha sounds like steve.

I really hope that doesn't happen, this article is incredibly, i'm actually quite excited about these discoveries, can't wait to see some of the species they've found. Nature untouched is something near impossible to come by, i really hope it doesnt get lost.

Yeah, I just saw this article on MSNBC.com this morning. Fantastic. There is still so much to learn about our planet. I wish there would be more deep sea expeditions. The real strange creatures live at the deepest depths of the oceans.

It's amazing how much we still don't know about this Earth. Shame we're gonna drestroy it all :(
