scientists have scalar waves, politicians have political powers (lying, warmongering, intern bedding abilities, power to appear stupid on a continual basis) and soldiers are cannon fodder with guns

Why would that make it harder? You can always think of a better way to kill people. Doesn't matter if somebody is using it or not.

Lets look at Deus Ex for an example.
JC Denton pwns all. What is he? A soldier.
It took a soldier to overpower the politicians (illuminati & such) and the Scientists (can't remember their name) couldn't overpower the Illuminati, although helped.

For example I'd say General Macarthur beats out Jack Thompson by far.

However Einstein easily beats Gomer Pyle.

True, since also some very smart people join officer school.

Actually, I know someone who's planning to go into military AI design. Working on missile brains and so forth. I have cordially enformed him that if/when a sentient machine is created and decides to destroy humanity, I will be forced to assassinate him, possibly going back in time as well.
