You got to read this, its a bit long, but some stuff (specially controversy) is worth the read. This guys are real nutcases. In the states, thay are clasified as non-profit religion. In Europe : commercial business

Stuff like this is scary :
Scientology pays members commissions on new recruits they bring in, so Scientology members routinely try to "sell" Scientology to others.[40] In addition, Scientology franchises, or missions, pay the church roughly 10% of their gross income
.

Operation Snow White:Operation Snow White was the name given internally by the Church of Scientology to a program which included the largest incident of private domestic espionage in the history of the United States.[citation needed] Under this program, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, and theft of documents in government offices, most notably those of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

Lobbying search engines such as Google and Yahoo to omit any webpages that are critical of Scientology from their search engines (and in Google's case, AdSense), or at least the first few search pages (now however, a search for Scientology on Google and Yahoo brings up the Wikipedia page, with both critical and official Scientology websites).

Wiki Is Your Friend

I don't need to read the Wiki, because what i know of Scientology it's based on science fiction, and made up by some guy (stupid). On top of that every member i've seen and heard from was a bloody nutter. Including Mr Cruise. Actually i'm going to read this for a laugh!

If you get to stage 15, they reveall to you the secret of universe :O
of course, they only give that secret in the new cruise-ship they accuired. (of course they are non-profit organization.)

I dont understand how people buy into this? Its obviously a cult. I think only celebrities join it, and they only do it so they can make the news more by joining a new,hip religion.(or there just weird)

yay for the super adventure club!

edit: I bet that veyron tom cruise drives was a 'gift' from the scientologists.

My uncles a scientologist. Doesn't seem like a nutter, and he's a nice guy. His kids go to a scientology school. They seem normal enough. I didn't want to ask him what they think about it though, thinking it might be a bit taboo. Point is, they're not all crazy.

Also,
Don't mean to flame or anything, but I can't help smiling to myself whenever I hear just about anyone in an organized religion denounce scientology. Mostly Catholics, as I attend a Catholic school. Again, nothing personal, just seems ironic to me.

Haha, must be taboo think about their religion.
I meant discussing it in a probably negative way. It'd be hard to ask and not sound condescending. I've heard that it's a bad move to discuss religion with family anyways (and I've definately learned about this one, being an atheist after being raised Catholic). I figured it'd be best to play it safe.

On the podcast I listen to they said that one of the Scientology exercises they give you includes walking out onto the street and trying to control the minds of five people who walk past, and if they turn arond and talk to you then you've got some form of control over them   :O

One problem with scientology is that it's commercial. Unless your uncle is rather well-off, he could stand to lose a substantial amount of money.

Also, he could be in danger if he tries to leave the cult for any reason in the future.
L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, formulated "The Fair Game Law" in a 1965 policy letter: "A Suppressive Person or Group becomes 'fair game.'" In a subsequent policy statement, Hubbard wrote that a person deemed Fair Game "may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed." The Church of Scientology has used "noisy investigation" as one method of attacking its enemies.

scientology is a scary cult if you ask me.
THey give you drugs that they dont feel like telling what it exactly does except some explanation about how it is good for the body, i dont remember what it was but it was utter bullshit, something with vitamins aswell lol

Actually they dont pay all members, they let members do anything for free (like purification and all kinds of really healthy shit), but instead of having to pay them back in terms them they get to recruit new members, some recruiters take it a bit overboard because of they owe so much to scientology.

Its also very hard to get out of it, but Ive heard of someone who managed to get out and get a little bit of his money back.

They're really scary and the only way you can enjoy their services is by being a rich ass motherucker

Those freaky bastards will never recruit me! I'm immune to their stupid propaganda. I'm supposed to be a christian orthodox but I have the tendency to slide toward atheism.

It looked like a pyramid scheme from up here.
