Before the update was everything working fine, but after the update all the reflections is missing, both on bottles and scopes. (and yes i have set "reflect all" in settings)
What can i do?

Panic !

Or... I think it might have detected your card to be lower DX settings than your card can handle.

Go to CS:S.
Go to Options
Go to Video
Click on Advanced...

It should give you some information about the DirectX stuff it's using, what does it say?

It says:
DX installed 9.0
DX using 8.0

so does this mean there aren`t any reflections in dx 8? My card is a GF4 4800 ti se

yep thats y. the 4800ti doesnt fully support dx9, even if it says it does. it only matches upto, say, a fx5600. soz m8, but the truth hurts.

tho if im wrong, which i probably am, cs:s has automatically set your card to run in dx8 as it would be best to. the dx9 will work, but you'll be watching a slide show :(

It seems as though he had this capability before the last update.

I know there is a way to force the game to run all the DX9 features, but unfortunately I don't know how to do it :(

Someone else should be able to help.

lol yeah i just realised (slaps face with a fish).

Its -dxlevel 90 on your shortcut or in paramerters (70, 80 and 81 also work for their coresponding directx versions.)

You can't force a Ti4800 into DX9. Use -dxlevel 81

You can, and he clearly has before to get the reflections working.

It has been done by a few people.

It won't do anything different than DX 8.1. You CAN force it, but you won't see any DX9 effects. Besides, reflections work in DX 8.1. I'm not sure about 8.0, but I'd imagine they work in 8.0 as they do in 8.1.

You can get your system (with the HL2 engine) to emulate DX9 effects, without a DX9 card albeit at the great loss of performance.

Wasn't that a DX8.1 effect? :p
Not really sure how you can get it back.

Well if it's a DX8.1 effect then the problem is that CS:S has somehow reverted back to using DX8.0. So Shuzer would be correct in saying that he needs to launch the game with the -dxlevel 81 parameter.

Mine is using DX 8 on a TI 4400 and I get reflections, I have all the detail turned to max and get around 48 fps

Same here, I am running a Geforce4 Ti 4600 and I see all reflections (i.e. scope, bottle, bucket, etc...). Just make sure everything is turned to high, and try the whole -dxlevel 81 thing, hope it works.
