anyone know how to screen capture from either windows media player or divx player?

if I do the usual print screen routine the picture window just shows up black...now quicktime got a nice built in copy/paste function ....but unfortunately it's not able to play the vid I want to cap.

They have protection which means that you cannot capture but there are ways around, I usually find powerdvd does a good job at getting around them, if not Hypersnap may work.

I have power DVD and I can get it to play the non DVD-files that I want to capture....but it won't capture them...only normal DVD stuff :-/

meh...I'll try and get another proggie...just annoying that I have to use another one. grr.

You CAN screen capture with print screen in WMP, do the following to make it work:

Launch WMP
Click on..
Tools > Options > Performance > Advanced
Uncheck "Use Overlays", click OK

doesn't either...only if I switch video acceleration fully off...and then I can't play it full screen...blow.

gonna find another program :dozey:

Should've worked.. not sure about DVDs, actually.

Anyhow, WinDVD allows you to screencap DVDs at the touch of a button

It's not any kind of clever security program - it's just that. Video acceleration. Even though it should work in full screen, why do you need it in full-screen to take screenshots? With no acceleration the vid will probably run poorly anyway. If you need high-rez shots, just maximize the vid window and take the shot, then trim off the borders.

Use NVDVD! Its the best Software DVD player ive ever used and i have used both WinDVD and PowerDVD. NVDVD allows you to screencap virtually anything and it also allows you to record the sound from the file you are watching into a seperate wav file with no quality loss.

lol I downloaded a prog that apparently should allow you to cap. anything....but it's still the same problem.

you could try turning off video acceleration? that sometimes works.... or try NVDVD... ;)

as I said with acceleration off the colours are crap and I can't play it fullscreen so it kind of defeats the purpose.
