Screen goes black for a while at startup

Since I updated my video cards to 81.84 ( http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_winxp_2k_32bit_81.84.html ) I have been getting a black screen at startup after it shows the progress bar but before the welcome screen. And just so you know, after installing the drivers when I would restart It would go to the black screen then a "blue screen of death" (... unexpectedly shutdown...)

It doesn't do that now. but it still goes to a black screen and starts up.

i know for SLi to start it would go black, but since updateing its taken longer.

anyone else that has these drivers have this problem?

Yes I know its a bug,

I tried installing the beta driver, this what happend:

First the driver installed the first card, and then moved to the second card but it faild. the screen went black and a message poped up with "no digital signal"

So I restarted the pc and I could hear the desktop loading but the screen is just black.

Its a known bug, I think its to do with some settings on some pcs

don't worry, they will fix it. just wait for next version next month

yup. I rolled back
its too bad though, when I had 81.84 I could run sli in hl2 and I didn't have screen tearing
